🌸WOMEN' S HISTORY MONTH 2025🌸
MARCH 1 - MARCH 31
SPRING FORWARD SUNDAY, MARCH 9, 2025🕑
Spring forward: Daylight saving time begins on the second Sunday in March for most of the US.
This year, you'll lose one hour of sleep on Sunday, March 9, when the clocks spring forward at 2 a.m., but in turn, you'll gain later sunsets starting on Sunday. Here's what you need to know about daylight saving time and how to prepare yourself before it happens:
When is daylight saving time?
The clocks will officially spring forward by an hour at 2 a.m. on Sunday. If you use your smartphone as an alarm, there is no need to do anything, as the clocks will adjust automatically. However, if you use an analog or digital clock that isn't connected to Wi-Fi, you’ll need to set the clock one hour ahead before you go to bed.

🔥MS. LEE'S 6TH GRADE SCIENCE PROJECT 🧊
Last Friday Ms. Lee's 6th grade science classes had an interactive, hands-on learning experience as they discovered the difference of the rate of spread/diffusion of food coloring in hot versus cold water. This is a great introduction into our new unit on Thermal Energy! The students worked together in groups to communicate effectively, think critically, and reflect on the differences between items that are warmer and cooler. The students also got to spend some time in the sun as the weather is warming up! 🌞
Boosting Math Fluency with 99math: Ms. Bursvold’s Class Shines!
Shoutout to Ms. Bursvold and her amazing 7th-grade math classes! Since introducing 99math, student engagement and motivation have skyrocketed as they practice math fluency in a fun and interactive way. Not only are they more excited about math, but they’re also using their math tools more consistently to ensure accuracy—showing great perseverance. Keep up the fantastic work, Ms. Bursvold and students! Way to go!
SEWING CLUB🧵
Another successful day at the Sewing Club some of our moms worked on aprons for gardening or cooking. While others worked on some makeup bags for their daughters or themselves.

Summative ELPAC Parent and Guardian Notification Letter
Attention ELD Parent/Guardian:
As an English learner, your child will take the Summative English Language Proficiency Assessments for California (ELPAC) this spring. The Summative ELPAC measures how much progress your child is making in listening, speaking, reading, and writing in English. Your child’s voice will be recorded during the speaking part of the test. These recordings may be used to double check test scores and will not be saved or made public. This test will give your child’s teacher information about where your child may need extra support.
Your child will take the Summative ELPAC every spring until they are fluent in English and no longer need support to understand and learn in English. The testing schedule is listed below:

Roosevelt School Counselors will be going into classes over the next couple of weeks to assist students in selecting their Essentials (elective) classes for the upcoming year. To help guide this process, We've included a link to our course descriptions. We encourage you to review these options with your child to ensure they make informed decisions. Please remind them to select three different electives and not repeat the same choice three times.
