Altruism, What's it all About?
ALTRUISM: an act done only for the benefit of another without concern for oneself, which could involve sacrifice, without expecting anything in return. (Mr. C. speak: “Doing something because it is the right thing to do!)
The GraceWorks Food Drive is a great way to help your child understand and practice altruism: Bringing in food only because it is the right thing to do …no prizes or incentives will be given! The food acquisition manager at GraceWorks has shared how impressed he is with the MES community because our donations are ALL food items. Many schools use cash collections to supplement their donations but he feels “it is so important for kids to bring in the actual food rather than just asking a parent for a check. It helps them learn about and understand the need in the community."
Once again we have set a lofty goal of 2,000 food items, but it would be awesome to get over 3,000. Please help us show altruism to meet this goal and help dozens of families in our school and community! It such a crucial lesson for our students to practice and learn!
As always, please don't hesitate to let me know if there is anything I can do to support your child's success!
Your MES School Counselor,
Mr. Coberly ("Mr. C")

Lost & Found Overload!
Please check the MES Lost & Found area for your child’s missing coat or jacket. We have an abundance of items, many that bring warmth that will most certainly be needed over the winter break! Writing your child’s name on items can help ensure they make it back home with students. Thanks in advance!
THANK YOU, MES PARENTS!
THANK YOU for blessing our faculty and staff during this season of Thanksgiving (and well beyond!) From Loaves of Thanks to wrapping our gifts, we are grateful for all you do to support us day after day! Ironically the character word for the month of December is caring, and that is something you all do incredibly well. Thanks for setting the example for students by the thoughtful things you do for us!
Canned Food Drive
During the holiday season, Moore Elementary offers our students an opportunity to give back to their community. In the spirit of giving, we encourage students to donate canned food for our community. Our goal is to collect 2,000 cans! We want to make sure those in need can put food on their table during the holidays. On the day before the winter break, our students will participate in a wonderful Moore tradition, a “Can Caroling” sing along, where we parade through the school and deliver the donated items to boxes waiting to be taken to the local donation centers. Deadline for cans is Thursday, December 19th!
