Student Achievement
Mrs. Sheeran’s, Mrs. Buccafurni-Tabassos’s, and Mrs. Hickman’s third grade students visited Mrs. Katie's afternoon pre-school class to buddy-read. The pre-school students enjoyed learning about groundhogs. After they read and discussed the story, the students then graphed if they believed the groundhog would see his shadow or if Spring would come early. The results showed the students wanted snow! The third graders loved spending time with their new pre-school buddies!
Ms. Webster's first grade class had fun creating a class survey about Groundhog's Day. The children asked their friends if they thought Phil would or wouldn't see his shadow on Sunday February 2nd. Then the students used chart paper to create a large class graph showing their choices for an early spring or six more weeks of winter. Ms. Webster's class is really hoping that there will be an early spring!
Mrs. Pellegrini's class loves Mystery Science!
In this mini-lesson their class learned how the shape of snowflakes causes them to look like the color of light that is shining on them. In the activity, Wax Paper Snowflake, students created a decorative snowflake and investigated how to make something transparent look white.
Mrs. Sansom and Ms. Sheridan's class learned about the Chinese New Year! They made lanterns and wrote their initials in Chinese!
Ms. Sawyer's third grade class read 'Tomas and the Liberty Lady.' They learned how important librarians are and that books have the power to change lives! They wrote letters of appreciation to our school librarian, Ms. Sullivan. Thanks for helping us love reading!
Mrs. Dempsey’s GT students put on their annual Mythology Museum. Students from Mrs. Sawyer’s and Mrs. Russnak’s class learned about the origin of Greek gods and goddesses. They could touch a “statue” and watch it come to life to tell you their history. Students also learned by participating in interactive exhibits in the GT classroom. Great job by all!
