CROC TALK
September 2020
From the Principal's Desk
Dear Cherry Creek Families,
Theme:
Our theme this year is RISE UP. It stands for Relentless Intentional Students/Staff Excel. We know we have some challenges ahead, from wearing masks to filling in the learning gaps from last spring. However, we know that when we are RELENTLESS in our drive, and INTENTIONAL in our efforts, everyone will EXCEL! I believe our students are capable of amazing things and with effort, we will accomplish so much.
Early Out:
One of the greatest things about the 45 minute early out each day is it will allow us to have time for individualized instruction. Teachers will be reaching out in the next weeks to students who may benefit from one on one, or small group instruction.
Free or Reduced Lunch:
I encourage ALL families to apply for free and reduced lunch, even if you don't think you will qualify. Our Title One funding is determined by how many students qualify for free or reduced lunch, so it won't hurt to make sure you don't qualify. The application needs to be resubmitted every year. To do this, log into the parent portal on Infinite Campus, select the 3 horizontal lines in the top left corner, scroll down to more, select meal benefits, then begin the application.
School Donations:
Donations are used to purchase classroom supplies, pay for extra field trips, class parties and class rewards. These can be paid by going to the parent portal in Infinite Campus, selecting the 3 horizontal lines in the top left corner, selecting fees and making a donation. We appreciate these donations SO much and they directly benefit your children.
Parent Responsibility:
Parents are asked to screen your children before sending them to school each day. If your child has any of the following symptoms you need to keep them home:
- Fever of 100.4 or greater
- Chills
- Cough
- Runny nose or congestion
- Sore throat
- Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
- Headache
- Diarrhea
- Fatigue
- Nausea and vomiting
- Muscle and body aches
- Recent loss of taste or smell
If your child has experienced any of these symptoms in the last 48 hours please do not send your child to school.
Title One Plan:
Normally we would have a Back to School Celebration and present the School Title One plan. Unfortunately with COVID, we won't be able to have any large gatherings. This link includes the information we are required to share each year. https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/1KSO6RpaUJFcUb5Dr14Vi3-lDnaXsyY-hnFjnGseesnk/edit?usp=sharing
School Community Council
I am still in need of another SCC member. Please email me if you are interested.
Thank you ALL for your support and encouragement. Cherry Creek is a wonderful place and I love it here! Your children are amazing and we will learn and RISE UP together this year.
Mrs. Darrington
Sra. Darrington

Leader In Me
Supporting Leader in Me at Home
- Habit 1: Be Proactive (I’m Responsible for Me)
- Habit 2: Begin With the End in Mind (Have a Plan)
- Habit 3: Put First Things First (Work First, Then Play)
- Habit 4: Think Win-Win (Everyone Can Win)
- Habit 5: Seek First to Understand, Then to Be Understood (Listen Before You Talk)
- Habit 6: Synergize (Together Is Better)
- Habit 7: Sharpen the Saw (Balance Feels Best)
- In order to encourage the 7 Habits language at home, here are some questions you can ask your child:
- How were you proactive today?
- What is your end in mind with this project/work/task?
- How do you plan to put first things first in this situation?
- What would be a win-win for us?
- I want to hear what you think first and then I will share. How do you know when you are being listened to?
- How can we work together on this?
- How would you like to sharpen your saw today?
