Suicide Prevention Presentation Information
Dear Parents,
Our annual suicide prevention presentation will be held on Tuesday, November 19th at 11:30. We will have two separate presentations for our middle school students - grades 6-8, and our high school students - grades 9-12. The middle school presentation will take place in the lower school gym, and the upper school presentation will take place in the auditorium. You are invited to attend. Please see below for more information about the organization that will be presenting this year.
The Rain Will Bring Flowers Foundation and the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention – Louisiana Chapter (AFSP Louisiana) are uniting to bring AFSP’s It’s Real: Teens and Mental Health to middle and high school students across Louisiana as part of the Prevention in every Parish campaign. It’s Real: Teens and Mental Health is a 45-minute program, which provides young people with mental health education and resources. According to the CDC, suicide is the 2nd leading cause of death for adolescents in Louisiana. It’s Real helps takes steps to educate our youth about the importance of caring for their mental health and helping others in need.
More about It’s Real: Teens and Mental Health:
The presentation covers topics including mental health, signs of someone needing help, conversation tips, methods for self-care, how to reach out to trustworthy adults/resources to help manage their mental health. It’s Real: Teens and Mental Health includes brief video narratives featuring well-known GenZ influencers sharing their own experiences with mental health, and what they found helpful at the time. This program is directed to be presented to youth between the ages of 11 and 18, middle and high school classes or community settings with groups of comparably aged adolescents.
Please reach out if you have any questions.
Sincerely,
VC Student Services Team

St. Gertrude Prayer for the souls in purgatory because the month of November is dedicated to praying for the deceased with All Souls Day.
Eternal Father,
I offer You the most Precious Blood of Your Divine Son, Jesus,
in union with the Masses said throughout the world today,
for all the Holy Souls in Purgatory,
or sinners everywhere, for sinners in the Universal Church, those in my own home, and within my family. Amen.
Open to all to attend if you would like to grow in your knowledge and faith!

Dear VC Community,
It is with a tender heart that I announce to you all that after Christmas break, I will not be returning to Vermilion Catholic, a Legacy of Mount Carmel. This has been a very difficult decision, but after much prayer and discernment, I truly feel that this is God's will. As many of you know, I also work part-time in private practice, and as my caseload grows, it is getting harder to meet all of the needs placed before me. I feel that God is leading me into a new chapter, and it is time to allow someone else to come in who will have more time and attention to give to our deserving children. I will be praying for my replacement and will do my best to make this transition as smooth and seamless as possible.
I cannot thank you enough for welcoming me into this community so graciously. I have seen God's hand working in every moment of my time here, and I am eternally grateful for its positive impact on my faith and life. I feel blessed to have been a part, even for a short time, of such a powerful and beautiful legacy. I look forward to still seeing you all around in my new role at VC as simply a mom.
With much love, gratitude, and prayers,
Hannah Broussard, MS, PLPC

ULM Application Information
If anyone is interested in applying to the University of Louisiana at Monroe (ULM), there is now a free application code so you do NOT have to pay the $20 application fee. It is Senior2025 and will be good to use until March.
A message from Mrs. Ashley Crowe
One of my goals this year as the new College and Career Advisor is to implement a Career Exploration "Lunch and Learn" in order to provide specific insight into careers that students have identified to me as being of interest to them. I also hope to bring awareness about careers for those students who are undecided about their future. These will be short (during lunch time), focused on a specific career, and informal presentations with conversation. Students will have a chance to ask specific questions about the career being presented.
