A Note from Mrs. Kopperud and Ms. Abreo
Dear Adventure Families,
The month of December has gone so quickly this year! Students and staff have been celebrating all month long by wearing a variety of festive outfits. We have five more days of school before the long winter break. Students are on break starting on December 21 through January 7 and we will welcome them back on Wednesday, January 8.
There are a few special events next week. Monday is the big music concert for our Kindergarten, 1st, and 2nd graders! The concert will start promptly at 1pm, please allow plenty of time to park and enter the MAC auditorium to find your seats! On Thursday, our PIE group is also hosting a food sale from 2:30 to 5:30, and Santa has promised to visit the event! More details can be found below! On Friday, our incredible Partners in Education (PIE) volunteer group has organized the third annual day of winter crafts! We're still looking for a few volunteers, sign up here!
Happy holidays! Enjoy a safe and restful 18 days without school!
Saludos,
Sarah Kopperud

Candy Grams for Sale!
Thank you so much for everyone who joined us for our Annual Holiday Movie Night! We hope you had fun!
Student Council is selling Candy Grams this week through Tuesday, December 17th for $1. Money raised will go towards buying gifts for kids and young adults living at the Third Way Center. You can find more information about the Third Way Center here. This year we are fulfilling TWO lists.
PIE Food Sale
Several PIE volunteers are making homemade Mexican food that will be sold to Adventure families on Thursday, December 19 from 2:30-5:30. These women will be selling tamales (red and green), posole, elote, nachos, hot dogs, gelatina mosaico, and ponche. Families are invited to come buy some food to bring home or to have an early dinner in the cafeteria with us. And Santa will be visiting to enjoy some delicious tamales with us!
If you'd like to pre-order tamales, please complete this order form by 2pm on Thursday, December 19.
A portion of the proceeds will be donated to our PIE group to continue to facilitate special programs for students. Please bring cash! All sales will be cash only!
Dual Language Staff Professional Learning
Early in November, a handful of our Dual Language teachers had the opportunity to attend the annual La Cosecha conference in Santa Fe, New Mexico. This conference is an exceptional gathering of Dual Language educators and academic experts, in which everyone can share and learn the most current research and best instructional practices to support emerging bilinguals (students learning two languages) and biliteracy (the ability to read and write in two languages). La Cosecha is a student-centered conference that builds community and knowledge amongst Dual Language educators. Adventure teachers learned beneficial instructional and programmatic information that they were able to bring back to the school and their students. We are so excited about how this new learning is already positively impacting our students!
Attendance Reminders
As we approach winter break, we would like to remind families of the importance of attending school every day through Friday December 20. Students will return from school on Wednesday, January 8th. Extended family vacations during school days will not be excused, so we encourage families to plan trips and special events during scheduled breaks in the school calendar. Research shows that even a few days of missed school can have a negative impact on a student's ability to stay on track academically, especially in foundational grades like kindergarten through third grade.
Thank you for your continued partnership in making attendance a priority. Together, we can ensure that every child at Adventure has the opportunity to thrive.
Work in Mapleton!
As many of you know, Adventure hosts one of Mapleton's Inclusive Learning Classrooms (ILC). This class of students with special needs is supported by a lead teacher and two paraprofessionals. Mapleton is hiring for ILC paraprofessional substitutes. You can view the job posting and apply here. We would love to have some familiar faces supporting in this special classroom as a para sub!
Extracurricular Clubs Update
From Ms. Xóchitl Ruiz, CCLC Grant Coordinator
As we wrap up the Fall Season of clubs, I just want to say thank you for allowing your students to be involved! We had some awesome clubs! I cannot wait to share with all of you what is coming up for the Spring semester! Please be advised, we WILL be having clubs next week (December 16-19).
On Friday, December 20 we will be sending out a notice to all families about the clubs being offered the Winter Season (January 13 - March 14, 2025) and Spring Season (March 24 - May 23, 2025). Enrollment will open next Friday and remain open until each club reaches capacity. We have some really exciting programming so keep an eye out for that email! We will also be extending our hours next semester!
Thank you all once again for the all the support. Have a great holiday season and a Happy New Year! As always, reach out to Xóchitl for more information: RuizX@mapleton.us or 303-853-1445.
