A.D.S. Elementary School
October, 2024 School Newsletter
I wanted to take the time to thank the parents and school community members that came out to our Open House BBQ and Annual General Meeting. It was nice to talk with you and to see the excitement in your children’s eyes as they returned to the playground and school that is so familiar to them. It was a real team effort to put together and I wanted to thank the amazing ADS staff for making things run so perfectly. It is much appreciated.
We have welcomed ten K4 students and their parents into our school community this year giving us a total of 144 students at ADS Elementary School. It is our continued goal to build strong relationships between your family and the staff here at school. It is when we work together that your children, our students, will have the best learning experiences.
Over the past several weeks, we have been working with our students to help them learn and remember school routines and expectations. We have also been busy building relationships – attachment is key!
On September 26th, we celebrate Support Staff Day. I would like to thank Ms. Jeannik , Ms. Ally, Ms. Lana, Ms. Brooke, Ms. Kelly, Ms. Karen, Ms. Cindy, Mr. S, Ms. Angie, Ms. Bianca, Mr. Barry as well as our bus drivers; Mr. Morrill, Mr. Andrews, Mr. Evans, Mr. Ricky, and Mr. Serge, for all you do every day for the ADS family!
October is approaching and so is the cooler weather. We have a lot of fun planned for this upcoming month and we are so excited to continue to watch your children grow!

Fire Drill and Lock Down Practices
The Eastern Township School Board and ADS Elementary School take their responsibilities very seriously , to ensure the safety and well -being of your child/ children. As part of our Safe School Policy, we have procedures to secure the building, in the event of an emergency. As you may be aware, our school, in accordance with the procedures and along with all the schools of our School Boards, has established a Local Emergency Response Team ( LERT). This team, composed of staff from all sectors, is being trained to respond to different types of emergencies that may arise.
As a result, we will be practicing what to do if an emergency arises. We will be holding multiple fire -drills at various times in the months of September. In addition to fire drills, our school is ready to implement drills for what is termed a “Lockdown” . A “Lockdown” will be initiated should a high -risk incident involving an intruder, or similar threat, occur. During a “Lockdown”, staff will direct and accompany students in securing themselves in their classrooms or other safe rooms , until such time school officials declare that the danger is past.
In order for all students and staff to become familiar with the expectations during a lockdown, our school will practice emergency lockdown procedures on a regular basis , just as we do with fire drills. Our first lockdown drill will be on October 7th.
Please expect that your child/ children may discuss this event with you, or ask you questions about it. Take advantage of this opportunity to assure them that these are only precautionary measures for their safety. Should you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us at any time .

November 13, 2024 - Parent/Teacher Conferences
February 28, 2025 - 2nd Report
June 30, 2025 - Final Report
Interim Reports: Your child's interim reports were made available on the MOZAïK Portal on October 14th. These reports do not contain marks and are a check-in. We hope that they will help you and your child have a discussion about school; what is working well and areas for growth.
As indicated previously, report cards are now issued electronically and are accessible through the parent portal. Reminder instructions on how to use the parent portal are available on the school website
Healthy Practices We must remind you that a sick student (fever, gastro, flu, etc.) should not come to school. The student should stay home until feeling able to attend regular classes. In case of an accident or sudden illness occurring during school hours, parents will be notified and should take charge of their child as soon as possible. Parents are always the main responsible persons for their child. In the best interest of our students, it is essential that emergency contact information be provided and be updated whenever there are modifications. If a taxi or ambulance is needed, the charge will have to be paid by the parents.

A Message from our CLC
Dear Families,
We’re excited to announce the launch of our online reading program starting the week of October 14th! This initiative, in collaboration with Townshippers and R3USSIR, allows students to read online with an adult once a week in the evenings, creating a wonderful opportunity for engagement and literacy development. Stay tuned for more information from your teachers soon, as spaces are limited!
We invite parents of K4 and K5 students to join us for a Meet and Greet with the ETSB Therapists on October 2nd between 4:30 to 6:00 PM. This event is a fantastic chance to connect with our professionals and discuss important milestones and red flags to watch for in your child’s development.
We’re thrilled to announce our participation in the Agir et Alimenter des Sources project! This food safety and educational program will enable us to teach students essential cooking skills and support teachers and staff in developing nutritional projects throughout the year. Funded for eight schools in the MRC, this initiative aims to empower our community to make healthier food choices.
Stay tuned for more updates!
Lastly, we want to extend our heartfelt gratitude for taking the time to fill out the parent survey. Your feedback is invaluable and will be shared with our ADS staff and governing board. This information will help us better understand and serve our community's needs, guiding our planning for various activities throughout the year.
Thank you for your continued support and involvement!
