NJSLA
Delaware Township School, along with all other schools in New Jersey, will be administering the New Jersey Student Learning Assessments (NJSLA) to students in Grades 3-8 in the content areas of English Language Arts and Mathematics. Students in Grades 5 & 8 will also be assessed in the area of Science.
===========================================================
Parents & Guardians, please make every effort to have your child at school on time on the days of these assessments. In addition, please read the following:
- Encourage your child to get a good night's rest and eat a healthy breakfast each morning.
- The school will provide headphones to any student who needs them. However, students may bring their own headphones to school. Wireless earbuds will not work for this assessment.
- All students should charge their chromebooks every night to prepare for the following day's assessment.
- If students are absent during their scheduled day of testing, they will be rescheduled during one of the make-up testing days.
- Smartphones and smart watches are not permitted in testing areas.
AI Committee
As artificial intelligence continues to shape our world, it's important that our school community stays informed and proactive. We’re forming a parent AI committee to help guide how we introduce and use AI in our schools.
At this time of year, we would like to establish a committee and meet once before the school year ends to set goals for the 25-26 school year. Examples of topics will include educating everyone on what AI is and what it means for our district, discussing and possibly adopting an AI district policy and manual to help provide a more thorough understanding of what AI is, and how it can and should be addressed in our distrct.
If you're interested in taking part in our committee for the 25-26 school year,

8 contestants participated in our annual Geography Bee!
Aiden M, Lionel H, Mason M, Bryan A, Ali S, Oliver N, and Max D.
After many rounds of suspenseful questioning:
3rd place went to Lionel H, 2nd place went to Oliver N,
and 1st place went to 3X School Champion, Aidan M!
Congratulations to all who participated in this fun event!
Archery
Congratulations to Henry Kusant, Nick Romaniello, Nate McGann, and Mason Matis for
making it into the 10 top archers in NJ!
In the state tournament last week, Henry placed first in the middle school divisionand shot a score of 279 out of a possible 300 points. This broke the DTS record that was set 10 years ago. Nick placed 3rd, Nate placed 6th, and Mason placed 10th in the state.
These archers have been invited to represent NJ in the National Bullseye Tournament in Louisville Ky this May 7-9. This is an amazing accomplishment! We wish them good luck!
Role Models of Character Education
Each month, our DTS students will discuss and learn about a character education trait.
March's character education trait was Honesty.
A student from each PK-5 homeroom and Gr 6-8 content area was chosen because he/she demonstrated honesty this month and was a role model for others.
Congratulations to all of the recipients!
In April, we will highlight students who demonstrate Empathy!
Spring Walk to School
Arrival
With so many families driving students to school, the carline will back up at times and some families have resorted to using the bus line to drop their children off. Please do not enter the driveway until all buses have departed. Thank you for working with us to keep all our children safe.
