Eagle Pride!
🌟Edgerton EL Teachers Shine 🌟
During the MN TESOL conference conference, Marisa Knoss and Dr. Emily Mattson, both EL teachers at Edgerton, shared their insights on the Science of Reading and writing genres. Their session, which drew a large audience and *was awarded best presentation* of the conference, focused on a genre pedagogy approach to writing, emphasizing how understanding genre structures can support literacy and language development. This is one example of how fortunate our students are to learn with exceptional teachers at Edgerton!
Solve for Tomorrow State Finalists!
Students in 6C were excited to learn this week that they are State Finalists! Out of hundreds of schools across the state, 5 schools were selected as finalists. The other schools are middle or high schools. Go Eagles! What an awesome accomplishment.

Attendance Check Point:
Did you know you can see your child's absence count on each report card? Take a look!
Our goal is for students to miss less than 10% of the school year. There were 57 days in Trimester 1. To be on track to meet this goal at the end of the school year your student has hopefully been absent less than 6 days. How is your student doing? Are there any ways we can help you at school to meet this goal? If you have any questions please reach out to the attendance office at the contact info listed below.
A reminder on attendance as we start Trimester 2:
- Research shows that consistent attendance at school correlates with student achievement. In fact, missing 10% (or about 18 days) of a school year increases the chance that your student will not read or master math at the same level as their peers.
- Coming to school on time is important because it allows students the opportunity to be part of the classroom community and to prepare for the learning activities for the day.
- It’s important to stay until the end of every day because academic instruction is happening in classrooms right until dismissal.
- Thank you for scheduling appointments before or after school when possible. If your student has regularly scheduled appointments, please submit a note from the provider stating when the appointments are and how long the therapy will continue.
- Winter is coming! If you decide to keep your child home due to poor road conditions or bad weather, you must notify the attendance office. The absence will then be excused, and we will know your child is safe and not stuck or lost outside in the bad weather.
- Remember to call in absences every single day that a student is not in school. (And then each school can include their numbers)
Thank you!
