Michigan Model for Health - Beta Teacher Recruitment
The Michigan Model for Health™ Program is requesting teacher volunteers to participate in a Beta Program of its new digital curriculum platform. This select group of teachers will receive first access to new features within the MMH website and digital curriculum. The terms include teachers receiving a 2-year free license to the digital curriculum for each of the grade levels taught and, during the 2-year time frame, participating in up to two online feedback surveys conducted by the MMH Program staff.
The select group of beta release teachers will receive digital curriculum access starting August 1, 2022. As an additional incentive, stipends for the Michigan School Health Coordinators Association conference are available to teachers to sign up for beta testing. The stipend may be used for the conference registration fee ($175) and/or lodging (maximum $285).

SafeSchools for LGBTQ Students - Spring 2022 Offerings
The Michigan Department of Education’s LGBTQ+ Students’ Project is offering four training in April and May of 2022. Two of them are popular workshops that have been offered before (Legal and Policy Issues and Listening to Understand). Two of them are brand new workshops being developed based on requests from the field. Dates and times are included below with links to register for the April workshops. Descriptions and registration links will be added to the online registration flyer in mid-April for the new workshops offered in May. State Continuing Education Clock Hours—SCECHs (1.25 hours) and Social Work CEs (1.5 hours) will be provided, pending approval, for participation in the live sessions. Sessions include:
- Stay Current: Legal and Policy Issues Pertaining to LGBTQ+ Students and School Staff - April 13, 8 a.m.-9:30 a.m. (Registration link)

Raising Good Eaters - Free Workshop
Raising Good Eaters: Feeding strategies to support a child's natural growth, will take place on Wednesday, May 4 at Bay Mills Resort and Casino. Sessions include:
- Introduction to Feeding Dynamics and the Satter Division of Responsibility in Feeding
- Helping Organizations Support Good Eaters
- Child Weight: Helping without harming
- Helping parents be eating competent

One Love Training - Dating Violence Awareness
One Love Foundation is a national non-profit organization with the goal of ending relationship abuse. They empower young people with the tools and resources they need to see the signs of healthy and unhealthy relationships and bring life-saving prevention education to their communities.

MDHHS Requests for Proposals - Child & Adolescent Health Center Program Expansion
The MDHHS Child and Adolescent Heath Center program has released two Requests for Proposals to establish new programs in one of three models: Child and Adolescent Health Centers (CAHC), School Wellness programs (SWP), and Expanding, Enhancing Emotional Health (E3). Following are two press releases for these opportunities. There are separate RFPs announcements for E3 and the CAHC/SWP models. Interested eligible parties may apply for up to two E3 and two CAHC or SWP respectively.
Grant applications must be submitted electronically through the MI E-Grants program by 3 p.m. on Friday, April 15, 2022. The first-year program period begins June 1, 2022 and ends Sept. 30, 2022, with annual renewals for based on availability of funds and acceptable performance. A pre-application conference will be held to discuss this funding opportunity and provide instruction on using the EGrAMS system. The pre-application conference will be held on March 17, 2022, beginning at 9:00 a.m., and will last approximately 90 minutes. The conference can be accessed at https://bit.ly/35COfv9
Building Healthy Communities: Step up for School Wellness Application open
The Building Healthy Communities: Step Up for School Wellness (BHC: SUFSW) program is recognized by health and education leaders as a successful and innovative school-based program that empowers school health leaders, educators, administrators, families, and communities to improve the health and well-being of students and staff. The program helps school wellness teams create a healthier school environment and build a culture of wellness that supports moving more, eating healthier, and improving mental health and overall well-being. Creating healthier environments can lead to the development of lifelong healthy behaviors that reduce the incidence of obesity and undernourishment, combat absenteeism, address trauma, and nurture a more productive teaching and learning atmosphere. All Michigan public, charter and nonprofit private schools are welcome to apply for the Building Healthy Communities: Step Up for School Wellness program. Applications will be accepted from March 7 - June 30, 2022.
New MOASH Resource launched: The K-5 Consent Toolkit
MOASH, in partnership with sexual violence prevention experts across the state, is excited to announce the launch of a new resource: the K-5 Consent Toolkit!
This resource responds to the needs of teachers, parents, and caregivers for quality consent education for students in elementary school. The toolkit includes recommendations for specific resources - including curricula, videos, books, and websites - as well as best practices for implementing consent lessons with K-5 youth. Also included is an overview of Michigan’s standards for K-5 consent education and a guide to understanding local district policy to advance school-based education in your community.
It's a MiPHY Year!
The Michigan Profiles for Healthy Youth survey is open for students in grades 7, 9, & 11. The MiPHY is an online student health survey offered by MDE & MDHHS to support local and regional needs assessment. The MiPHY provides student results on health risk behaviors including substance use, violence, physical activity, nutrition, sexual behavior, and emotional health. The survey also measures risk and protective factors most predictive of alcohol, tobacco, and other drug use and violence. MiPHY results, along with other school-reported data, will help schools make data-driven decisions to improve prevention and health promotion programming.

Families Against Narcotics of Chippewa County
Families Against Narcotics offers several scholarships each year:
One $1,000 scholarship will be awarded to an EUP senior student intending to further his/her education at a community college, college, or university in the fall of 2022 studying social work, medicine, education, criminal justice, or first responder training.
A $1,000 scholarship will be awarded to one EUP resident, a college student furthering his/her education at a community college, college, or university in the fall of 2022 who is studying social work, medicine, education, criminal justice, or first responder training.
One $1,000 scholarship will be awarded to an EUP resident in recovery who is intending to further his/her education at a community college, college, or university in the fall of 2022.
The deadline to apply is Friday, May 6 at 4 p.m.

This guide is designed to provide Michigan educators, principals, superintendents with a template for increasing equity in schools and strategies to help dismantle institutional and structural barriers to success for all students.
