THE HOME FRONT
Superintendent Update I June 2025
THE HOME FRONT will serve as a monthly newsletter to the staff, families, and community of New Home ISD following each regular monthly board meeting. My goal is to publish the newsletter the day after the board meeting, but always by the end of the week, in order to provide timely, open, and transparent communication about all things New Home ISD. If something comes up between publications please feel free to reach out, and if I miss something please know it was not intentional - just let me know. I welcome phone calls, emails, and face-to-face meetings. If dropping by without an appointment, please check with Katy Adams to make sure I am available. I look forward to working with each of you and sharing THE HOME FRONT.
Thank You
I would like to extend a huge thank you to the New Home ISD Board of Trustees, the entire New Home ISD staff and student body, and the New Home community for the warm welcome my family and I have received since I was named superintendent of NHISD. We are excited to join Leopard nation and make New Home home.
New Home ISD Needs Assessment
Below is a New Home ISD Needs Assessment Google Form. As New Home ISD continues to grow we would like to hear from all stakeholders as to what programs our students, staff, parents, and the community would like considered. Please complete this form to help us gather information that will be used to guide future decisions.
New Home Hires
Campus administration has been busy interviewing and hiring highly qualified New Home Leopards at both the elementary and secondary campus. Please join me in welcoming the following new staff members:

At New Home Secondary School

- Lauren Hamilton who will teach yearbook, digital media, and assist with student council
- Matt McCarty who will teach career prep, pre-athletics, and coach
- Kyla Robinson who will teach junior high math
- Shane Stephen who will teach high school math and coach
Welcome to Leopard Nation!
AG Updates
As many of you may have heard we lost both of our AG teachers at the end of the 24-25 school year. Ms. Slagel left education altogether and joined the banking industry, and Mr. Benitez has accepted a teaching position in another school district. New Home ISD extends a huge thank you to both of these outstanding educators for their service and dedication to our AG and FFA programs while here, and we wish them both well in their new endeavors.
As we move forward please know the NHISD Board of Trustees and administration is committed to filling both vacancies as soon as possible. A committee interview is scheduled for the lead AG position next week; as soon as a recommendation is made and approved by the board of trustees we will begin the search to fill the second AG opening.
HB2 School Funding & NHISD Budget
Below is a great graphic explaining HB2 School Funding that was created by Frisco ISD and the NTX Public Schools Legislative Network. HB2 is the first significant public education funding bill since 2019.
New Home ISD's fiscal year runs September through August so our new budget will be presented to the Board of Trustees for adoption at the August 11, 2025 board meeting.
Construction Updates
Even though we have been in the new elementary building just shy of a year a few punch list items remain. We are working with BGR to complete the punch list and have been told that all items will be finished prior to the start of the 25-26 school year.
Unfortunately, we will start the new school year without concessions and bathrooms at the newish football stadium. We are awaiting the architectural plans in order to secure bids and begin construction.
Stay tuned!
Corporate Partnerships
As of June 10, 2025, we have a number of corporate partnerships for the 25-26 school year. Below is a list of those who have signed a letter of commitment to support New Home ISD.

Thank you so much for your partnership and commitment to New Home ISD!
Congratulations
The Leopards finished their baseball season on June 5, 2025 playing in the state title game against Centerville. The Leopards came up a little short, but there is still so much to celebrate and be proud of. Congratulations on a well played season and thanks for the great memories!
Good Luck
Best wishes and safe travels to all our students and families traveling to Fort Worth, TX for the 97th Texas FFA State Convention. We know you will represent New Home ISD well and we can't wait to celebrate your accomplishments!
