Easter Prayer
Heavenly Father,
We rejoice in the resurrection of Your Son, Jesus Christ, who has conquered death and brought us the promise of eternal life.
As we celebrate this glorious Easter season, fill our hearts with joy, hope, and gratitude for the gift of salvation.
Lord, help us to live in the light of the resurrection, sharing Your love and peace with everyone we meet. Strengthen our faith and guide us to be true witnesses of Your grace and mercy.
May the Holy Spirit inspire us to follow the example of Jesus, showing respect, compassion, love, and forgiveness in all our actions.
Unite us as a community of believers, and let our lives reflect the beauty of Your divine love.
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen.
Dear Friends, Parents, Guardians, and Staff,
Wow, what an incredible ten weeks of term! I am truly privileged to lead such a dedicated team of professional educators, supported by an engaged parent community, all working together for the benefit of our wonderful children.
Today, I was deeply impressed by our Year 4 students who led the entire school in the Stations of the Cross. Our students should be immensely proud of their performance, and a big congratulations to Miss Matrenza, Mr D’Aloia, and Mrs Kirwan for their excellent training and guidance.
The Stations of the Cross remind us of the true essence of Easter. Easter is the most significant day in the Christian calendar, celebrating the resurrection of Jesus Christ and marking the birth of our eternal hope. The term "Easter" literally means "the feast of fresh flowers," symbolising renewal and joy, making it the greatest and most important feast in the Church.
Based on feedback from our community and assessment data, we are excited to incorporate two key focuses into our whole Catholic school improvement plan: Respect and Reading.
Respect focuses on the relationships that Jesus modelled for us and builds upon our Making Jesus Real program. Our children learn from the relationships we model, both face-to-face and online. Our goal is to ensure our students' well-being continues to thrive, focusing on high-quality learning and helping our children develop the skills for quality friendships and relationships. We will use data-informed and evidence-based high-impact teaching to support this.
The first step has been revising Holy Rosary’s Positive Behaviour Framework through a consultative process with strong student voice. The new framework includes strategies to support all children, such as Zones of Regulation (recognising social-emotional impact), Friendology (quality friendships and anti-bullying program), and clearly defined rights and responsibilities for all parties. I encourage you to read this framework. https://hrs.wa.edu.au/media/pages/families/89eb5d76de-1744270808/hr_positive-behaviour-framework-guidelines.pdf
Reading will be a journey for staff, parents, and students over the next three years, becoming a whole-school focus based on the Science of Reading. Key data will be collected three times a year using DIBELS Assessment, and our high-impact reading support programs will be based on data-informed tiered intervention, utilizing UFLI, MiniLit, and MacqLit.
As part of this shift, our student support structure will look different next term. Our support teachers will be assisted by specialist reading support education assistants. They will provide targeted support in Literacy, Numeracy, Social Skills, and Extension. We will contact parents individually next term to update them on what this will look like for their child.
May you and your family have a restful and refreshing Easter break. We look forward to welcoming our students back on Tuesday, 29th April.
Warm regards,
Michael O’Dwyer

Meet Miss Dwyer: Assistant Principal & Aspiring Hogwarts Recruiter 🧙♀️📚
👋 Meet Miss Dwyer, our fabulous new Assistant Principal here at Holy Rosary!
She’s got high standards for her fish, dreams of having Hermione Granger on staff, and has heard some very creative homework excuses. 😂
We can’t wait to share more about our amazing team in this fun new series!
This week during library, all students from Years 1–6 were given a blue and white slip explaining how to access the Holy Rosary eBooks app. Students from Year 3-6 will have the ePlatform (wheelers) app on their iPads already and Year 1-2 students can add it to a device at home, with instructions sent home by your teacher on seesaw. The username is the students CEWA email address, and the password is the same for all HR students – HRBOOKS. It is an extra reading alternative for the students over the holidays if they have finished their library books or are unable to visit a public library. As always, parent supervision is always recommended while students are using any device and please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any concerns.
The Scholastic Book Sale will be held in week 2 next term. There will be no library borrowing or classes during this time. I am looking for parent volunteers over 3 sessions. If you are able to assist on Thursday 8th or Friday 9th May before school (8.15-8.50am) or Thursday 8th May after school (3-3.45pm) please email me via the front office. More information will follow in the next newsletter. Have a wonderful Easter holiday.

Congratulations to all students on a wonderful Term 1. I am so excited for Holy Rosary to start URStrong (Friendology) next term. Friendology 101 is a program that helps kids establish and maintain healthy relationships, manage conflict with kindness, and increase their overall resilience. Our wonderful Year 3’s have already started the program and Term 2 is looking fantastic with the whole school, including students, staff and parents, getting on board. Stay tuned for more URStrong news soon!

Sharing Big Messages Through Little Puppets 💛
💛 Last week, our students were treated to a powerful and engaging puppet show performance from Camp Quality.
With warmth, humour, and heart, the show helped our students understand important messages about cancer—like the fact that cancer is not contagious and that it's okay to ask questions and talk about it.
Cancer touches many lives, and is currently impacting several families in our Holy Rosary community. We're so grateful for the way this performance opened up conversations and delivered such vital messages in a child-friendly way. 💬💛
Thank you, Camp Quality, for helping us support our students with compassion and care.

The King of Kings
Exciting news – there is an upcoming cinematic event that promises to inspire and uplift our communities, especially our children. Angel Studios, the creators of impactful Christian stories The Chosen and Sound of Freedom, together with Rialto Distribution, is set to release THE KING OF KINGS in cinemas on 10 April 2025 in Australia.
This animated film, featuring an all-star cast including Kenneth Branagh, Uma Thurman, Mark Hamil, Pierce Brosnan, Ben Kingsley, Forest Whitaker, and Oscar Isaac, brings to life the story of Jesus Christ through the imaginative lens of Charles Dickens narrating to his son, Walter. You can watch the trailer here https://youtu.be/Ddiqz3BT7i8 .
THE KING OF KINGS is more than just a movie—it’s a powerful tool for faith formation and moral reflection. This heartfelt retelling of Christ’s journey emphasises His love, sacrifice, and triumph, making it especially relevant for children as they grow in their understanding of faith. Through its engaging storytelling and stunning animation, the film connects timeless Christian values—compassion, courage, and hope—to the challenges of our modern world. It’s an opportunity to inspire young hearts and minds while offering families a shared experience that reinforces the Gospel in a fresh, relatable way.
