As students settle back into their school routines, there are plenty of ways to get creative with Fall activities to support classroom learning. September has a number of days set aside for educational emphasis:
- Hispanic Heritage Month is an annual celebration of the history and culture of the U.S. Latino and Hispanic communities. Hispanic Heritage Month 2024 will last from Sunday, September 15, 2024, through Tuesday, October 15, 2024. The event commemorates how those communities have influenced and contributed to American society at large Hispanic Heritage Month ‑ Origins & Facts | HISTORY
- September 11: 9/11 Remembrance or Patriots Day [Read more: Websites and Books To Teach Kids About 9/11]

Growing Readers
The first week of school a Growing Readers teacher, Mrs. Pollard, 2nd Grade Teacher at Wheeless Road, has begun setting up her classroom library. It includes a robust selection of books from decodables to high interest texts. Mrs. Pollard also has a plethora of books leveled by Lexile levels. Her classroom library is so inviting students are sure to fall into a book.

Let's Talk ELA, GA!
The Georgia Department of Education English Language Arts content team invites leaders throughout the state to join a virtual professional learning series to prepare for the implementation of Georgia’s K-12 English Language Arts Standards. Important updates will be provided monthly to support leaders. There will be time set aside monthly for attendees to ask questions pertaining to the standards. These sessions will not be recorded, and registration is required.
