What's new with Watkins Middle?

• As indicated last week, due to unforeseen circumstances we are postponing the choir concert that was scheduled for 4/30. More information will be communicated in the future regarding potential make up dates.
• As we approach May we have a lot of behavior incentives for students as we finish the year. Beginning May 1st students who earn out of school suspensions, in school suspensions, or have demonstrated repeated patterns of attendance issues can/will be held out of end of year events such as field day/ the farewell dance/ or PBIS incentives. Please discuss ending the year strong on a positive notes with you child. Thank you for your continued support in this endeavor.
• This Tuesday marks the halfway part of the 4th quarter. Interim grades for students will be submitted by staff Tuesday evening. Interim grades will be visible the following week.
• Friday May 2nd is school lunch hero day! Help us celebrate the awesome work that our kitchen staff does each and every day for kids.
• Tuesday May 13th @ 6:45 there will be a parent meeting for those students going on the Washington DC trip. Please plan to attend in the middle school cafeteria.
• Teacher appreciation week is coming up during the 1st week of May. Help us celebrate the awesome work they do by sending a shout out. staff shout out form here. The WMS PTO is also in search of donations for staff appreciation week. See the running list here. Likewise, this Friday 5/2, the PTO is in search of volunteers to assist with 'Honor Roll sundaes'. If you're willing to help out please comment on the WMS PTO Facebook page.
• Is your child interested in joining Lego Robotics? Interested parents or students should sign up by May 9th here.

Hometown Ticketing

• Varsity Ticket events are $7 up to 1 hour before the event. At the gate tickets are $8 (use of a card includes a fee at the gate). Middle School tickets are $5.

• All athletes should enter and exit the building through the 600 hall (Door 7) entrance before and after practice each day.

Bus concerns:

We ask that you please contact the Transportation Department directly at 740-927-5901 with any concerns about your student’s bus (late arrival or other issues). Their phones are manned 6:00 am to 5:00 pm, and they have direct contact with all buses.

Attendance:

Please call the 24 hour WMS attendance line at (740) 927-6807 to report student absences. This voicemail box is available 24/7 and messages are retrieved on school days between the hours of 7:00am through 3:00pm.

If your student will miss school due to a pre-planned absence, please complete this Trip/Vacation Authorization Form.
