Dear Parents/Carers,
What a blustery week it has been! Fortunately, the children haven’t let the wind get the better of them and we have had a very productive week.
On Tuesday, over 60 children went to one of the MAT schools to take part in a cross-country event. We managed to come home with two second places and the children finished up tired but happy.
Year 4 experienced the York food festival on Tuesday morning. Bread making, herb smelling and chocolate lollipop constructing went down a treat and they made us proud with their manners and behaviour.
Thank you to everyone who has already donated to the OPAL resources. This is an ongoing thing so don’t worry if you haven’t had chance to drop anything off, the drop off point will remain active indefinitely.
Next Wednesday (2nd October) is the Friends of Kirk Fenton AGM being held at the Fenton Flyer 7-9pm. New members are always welcome!
Finally, a polite reminder that school gates don’t open until 8.35am. Some children have been dropped off at 8:25 and staff are not available to supervise them due to meetings and preparing to teach.
Thank you as always for your continued support.
Mrs Mel Walmsley

Message from Head Pupils
We’ve had lots of fun this week. For starters, on Tuesday 60 of our amazing key stage 2 children ran one and half miles for cross country! They all did incredibly well with two students picking up a silver medal. Also, yesterday Year 4 went to the York food festival and made some delicious snacks including lollies and bread.
Head pupil awards go to Ralph (Y6) and Fleur (YR)
Bella and Ollie
Well done to everyone going onto Numbots or TTR to practise their maths at home. Research shows that 25 minutes each week is enough to make recall of the number facts practised automatic. This really helps your child in their maths learning at school.
Our Numbots Superstars this week are Isla H, Freya N, Jack B, Mykytir S, Holly S-W, Oliver K and Alice H. This week's Rockstars of the Week are Min B, Toby M, Esme K, Tom O, Zion P, Samantha D and Eric P. This week's lucky raffle winners were Ivy K and Evie S. Well done everyone.
Cloakroom Award
Lunchtime Awards
Thank you to Logan (Y5), Isaac (Y1) and Adelaide (YR) for helping us all to enjoy our lunchtime in the dinner hall.

Request from Gardening Club
Tom and Albert have been amazing harvesting the crops and clearing the beds for winter including spreading manure this week. Many thanks to Tom and Albert's families for providing the lovely rich manure!
If anyone has any old carpet remnants or other suitable materials for covering the beds, please can you drop them in to the office.
Thank you

This session will give you an insight into how we teach reading in school. Free childcare will be provided for children who attend the school (unfortunately our insurance does not extend to providing care for children who are not pupils). We would love to see everyone there.
Many thanks,

Friends of Kirk Fenton AGM
We are delighted to have had new committee members come forward, meaning Friends of Kirk Fenton can continue to support the school.
The AGM will take place on Wednesday 2nd October, 7pm - 9pm, in the Fenton Flyer.
To hold a successful AGM we must have at least 5 non-comittee members, so if anyone would like to join to learn more about Friends and the work we've done please do come along. By attending it doesn’t mean you have to join the committee - so don’t be scared! Be curious….
