September/October 2024 at Woodbrook
Happy Fall!
Dear Woodbrook Families,
We are excited to welcome everyone back to school, and we're looking forward to a year filled with learning and engagement!
Thank you for coming out to Back to School Night, Kindergarten Orientation and tour for families new to Woodbrook.
We are hoping that EVERYONE will join the PTO which supports our school in so many ways - from purchasing books to providing clubs, assemblies and subsidizing field trips to the soon to be upgraded electric sign to help support communication with parents!
Please join the PTO by paying the dues for your family and please sign up to volunteer. You can volunteer for something small or you can volunteer as much as you would like. There is always something to do! Scroll down for details!
Club sign ups end this Friday morning, Sept 27. Co-curricular clubs are (mostly) by lottery or audition, please WAIT until the week of October 7th to be notified of your child's registration status. PTO clubs will begin the week of October 7th. You will be reminded via email of your club's start date.
Math club registration ends October 1 (pay on Community Pass). The first club will meet in the cafe on October 16th at 7 pm.
The Woodbrook Pumpkin Patch will be open to the children in late October for our pumpkin decorating contest. Pumpkins can be purchased through Community Pass for $6. Each child will be provided with a pumpkin and paint for the decorating contest. Students who do not purchase pumpkins will receive a paper pumpkin to decorate.
Our Halloween Parade (weather permitting) and parties will be held beginning at 1:30 p.m. on October 31st. Children should wear child friendly, positive costumes (nothing "adult" or scary i.e. no "Scream" masks) no fake blood, and no toys or props that look like weapons. Please see the parade route in the newsletter below.
Students in grades 4 & 5 will most likely have the results of their NJSLA standardized tests mailed home in October. They will also be uploaded into your parent portal . Please be on the look out for the document in the mail IF your child took the test here at Woodbrook last year.
As we move into the fall weather, please be sure your child has an umbrella for rainy days if they are walkers/car riders. Teach them how to open and close them & to be aware of people around them while their umbrellas are open.
One reminder...hats and hoods are not to be worn in school. Please remind your child to remove hats and hoods while in the building.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Cirillo

HALLOWEEN AT WOODBROOK
Safety First!
Safety First!
- Everyone is doing a great job pulling all the way up during arrival and ensuring their children are walking on the sidewalk/path.
- Please only park in legal spots (not by the yellow lines) during arrival/dismissal.
- While walking on the path, if you are walking next to someone and you see another person coming in the opposite direction, please stand aside to allow the person to pass on the paved path/sidewalk as opposed to forcing them into the grass/dirt.
First Day Friends!
Thank you Security Officers DeLuca & Katana!
We expressed our gratitude to those who protect and serve us as we observed September 11th.
