AEB Weekly 5/8/17 to 5/14/17

Congratulations to all performers in the Akins Wind Symphony. The Wind Symphony placed 5th out of 18 performing groups from the north Texas area and nearby states. In addition to this outstanding overall ranking, the Wind Symphony placed 3rd in "Overall Artistic Impression!"

The Akins HS Jazz Band, South First Groove, has been representing Akins HS and the south Austin community with pride and excellence throughout the city. The group performed an exciting concert at Fiesta Akins and then a killer set at the Central Market Jazz Festival.

All AEB members are required to attend the Texas State Solo & Ensemble Contest on Saturday, May 27th and Monday, May 29th. AEB is one of four groups who help run the huge state competition...helping manage over 25,000 students from around the state.

All hands are needed on deck for this event. More details will be coming soon. These are all day events.

The Akins Band Banquet is May 20th from 6:00pm to 10:00pm!

Banquet is a great way to celebrate the end of the year with food, awards, presentations, and dancing.

Know someone who would be great at performing in the Akins Color Guard? Have them contact Mr. Fincher or stop by the band hall ASAP! We are actively recruiting new members for the upcoming year!

There are quite a few families that are behind on band fee payment arrangements.

Please stay on top of your band balances.

As we look ahead to 2017-2018, no student will be permitted to register for Band in 2017-2018 if there is an outstanding balance.

Invoices will be coming home this week. Please make plans to take care of your outstanding balances.

Did you know that you can work shifts at the UT Erwin Center to earn money for your fees, trip payments, and lessons? Each shift pays $35 to $75 per person depending on the event and business.

There are always shifts available and we are already needing people to work!
