Dear Muskego Lakes Families,
The next two weeks, students at Muskego Lakes will take the Spring iReady Assessment for Reading and Math. Traditionally, standardized assessments given three times a year are used by teachers to monitor student growth throughout the year and from year to year. At Muskego Lakes, students also use these assessments to track their own progress. This is because we believe our students should know the "WHY" behind the assessments, be able to celebrate their growth and plan next steps. In fact, many of our students look forward to the spring assessment because they want to see how much they grew!
This doesn't mean that there isn't any stress or anxiety for some students. To help your child prepare, keep conversations focused on trying their best, taking their time and trusting themselves when they don't know the answer. iReady assessments do not impact student grades but they are used to make education decisions to best support student learning. These tests are dynamic in that they deliver questions to students based on how well they are doing - dialing up the difficulty when they show proficiency in a skill and dialing down the difficulty when they struggle. In doing this, it is a guarantee that every student will get questions that are beyond their current understanding. We encourage students to pause think about what they know within the problem and make an educated guess. Reminding your child that this will happen will reduce anxiety when they get tough questions.
Like our students, we look forward to reviewing the assessment results, celebrating student growth and planning next steps!
With Love,
Rachel Rydzewski & Nancy Pasch

Photos Needed for Grade 8 Celebration Slideshow
The Graduation Planning Committee wants to get things started so that we can put together something extra memorable for our children as we close the chapter on Muskego Lakes Middle School. We want to include EVERY classmate in the slide show. If you could please help us out with a couple of items:
**We do understand that some parents may not want their child in the slide show and may have signed a waiver at the beginning of the school year to not have pictures or video taken of their child. If you DO NOT want your child in the slide show please send an email to MLMSClassof2026@gmail.com and we will abide by your wishes. We are using the email you send as your waiver.
PICTURES NEEDED:
If you have any pictures from school or non-school related activities, sports, field trips of their middle school years, please send the pictures, with your child’s name and the names of any others included in the photo, to our celebration email: MLMSclassof2026@gmail.com and please send no more than 10 pictures.
We reserve the right not to use all photos that are sent in, depending on how the project develops. All photos need to be submitted no later than Sunday, May 15th . I will be taking pictures in the homerooms. All 8th graders will be included in the slideshow, unless otherwise communicated.
**NOTE: If your child did not attend MLMS for 5 th -7 th grades, send pictures from their
prior school activities. Also, please send a separate email if your child did not attend
MLMS in 5th grade.

Mid-Week Munchies for Staff at MLMS
Speak Up, Speak Out Wisconsin
Our staff at Muskego Lakes take threats seriously. We are grateful for our partnership with students and parents as they continue to be invested in their school culture as we all work together to keep our schools safe. We encourage all families to talk about how a child should respond to any threat or concern, regardless of the source or legitimacy. If a student or parent is not comfortable going directly to a district staff member, they can use Wisconsin's Speak Up, Speak Out that will notify a school administrator and/or police authorities immediately. Speak Up, Speak Out! Speak Up, Speak Out is managed by the Wisconsin Department of Justice (DOJ) Office of School Safety.
You may make a report by visiting the website, using your smartphone by downloading the SPEAK UP, SPEAK OUT app from the Apple Store and Google Play, or by calling 1-800-MY-SUSO-1 to speak to a resource center analyst.
