Celebrations from the Week:
Last week was filled with wonderful learning experiences:

• Language Arts: Students explored the difference between retelling a story and summarizing it. They practiced writing summaries using a nonfiction read-aloud and a fiction book of their choice. Additionally, I continued conducting reading conferences with the students, allowing for personalized feedback and growth in their reading skills.

• Math: Our focus on volume continues! Students are grasping the concept well and applying it in various activities.

• Social Studies: Students engaged in an expert group project, focused on U.S. Geography, where they presented their learning to the class using PowerPoint presentations. This collaborative effort helped enhance their communication and teamwork skills.

• Special Guest: We were thrilled to have Mrs. Mykela join us to conduct a lesson on social filters, which sparked engaging discussions among the students.

• Science: In science this week, students delved deeper into life systems and participated in an interactive activity centered around food webs. It was a fantastic way for them to connect with nature and understand ecosystems.

• 10/4 (Friday): Carnival Fundraising! We look forward to seeing you there and appreciate your support in making this event a success.

• 10/25 (Friday): Family STEAM Night! Join us for an evening of fun, learning, and exploration in science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics.

Cherry Crest’s Family STEAM Night is Friday, October 25th from 5:30pm - 7:30pm.

There are going to be so many fun and interactive activities such as Sphero Cars, Beebots, an Egg Drop Challenge, and Spider Web Bridges. We sure hope you can make it!

PTSA and Cherry Crest are asking for help collecting supplies for this exciting event.
