A Message From Mrs. Carmody
Dear Fremont Families,
Today, I am reminded of the incredible strength and kindness within our community. Unsettling moments highlight the importance of coming together to support one another and creating an environment where everyone feels safe, valued, and cared for. In Fremont, we remain committed to fostering a culture of respect, safety, and connection. If your family of child ever needs any additional support, please don't hesitate to reach out. Thank you for being such an important part of our school community.
In gratitude,
Beth Carmody

Erin's Law
All public schools in Illinois are required to provide instruction in grades PreK-12 about sexual abuse prevention, as a result of Erin’s Law (which is an Illinois law).
This topic will be covered in your child’s Healthy Minds class for all full day Kindergarten, First, MAP 1-2, and Second Grade students during the next rotation of instruction.
Please be sure to open all attachments.
A letter of explanation from Fremont’s Assistant Superintendent of Learning, Dr. Bullis. The waiver is available on page 2 of this document.

Reports Cards Live Now
First trimester report cards are now available online (see directions below). If you’re unable to attend your child’s conference, please reach out to your classroom teacher to schedule a phone conference or make another arrangement. We do not offer Zoom calls. Please note that the report cards for Specials and P.E. classes will be blank. Specials and P.E. teachers will be monitoring progress throughout the year but will not formally report on standards until the third trimester. Since Specials teachers see students only once a week and P.E. has a high number of students per class, this timing helps ensure we have accurate information before including it on the report card. Click here for the report from our Specials/P.E. teachers so you can read about what students have been working on in their classes this trimester.
Directions for Accessing Report Cards via TeacherEase
- Log into teacherease (Your user i.d. is your email address)
- Click on the 'Academics' tab at the top of your screen
- Click on report card
You will also see a "Forgot Password" link on the website if you do not remember your password.

Fremont Parent University Update
Thank you to everyone who joined us for this week’s Fremont Parent University virtual presentation. This event, held in collaboration with district staff and The Reading League, highlighted our commitment to advancing literacy through the latest evidence-based practices.
Our guest speaker, Ryan Buggy from The Reading League, provided valuable insight into the evidence-based literacy practices that define the Science of Reading and the professional development he is conducting with our district administrators and teachers. His work with us directly supports Objective 2.d. of the district’s strategic plan: to refine literacy curriculum, resources, instruction, PreK-8 alignment, and services, ensuring they reflect the most current evidence-based standards for long-term, equitable achievement.
This presentation reinforced how we are putting this objective into action, with a focused effort on reviewing our literacy curriculum and resources across grade levels, enhancing our instructional practices, and promoting equitable outcomes for all students. These initiatives not only advance literacy in FSD79, but also strengthen our commitment to implementing proven practices that support all students in developing strong literacy skills.
A recording of the presentation and a few key resources are linked below to further support your understanding of our literacy efforts.
We are proud of the steps we are taking to implement these impactful literacy practices and grateful for your continued partnership in supporting our students’ learning.
Thank you for your support, and we look forward to continuing this journey in literacy together.

Parent Book Club - “The Anxious Generation”
As part of our Parent University programming, FSD79 and the Fremont PTO will be co-sponsoring a Parent Book Club event on New York Times #1 Bestseller, “The Anxious Generation” by Jonathan Haidt. We will be hosting a one-night discussion on the book on February 11, 2025. For more information on the book club event, please visit our table at next Friday’s Reading Rally. Additional information will be shared with families in the near future. Secure your physical or audio copy of the book now to prepare for the discussion.
Kindness Club Keeping Fremont Organized
In honor of World Kindness Day on Nov. 13, the Fremont Elementary School Kindness Club organized the Elementary School Lost and Found. Students looked for names on all the items and then delivered those lost items to the correct classroom. They also sorted items to help make finding lost items easier for students. Numerous coats and sweatshirts without names would love to find their owners! Please stop by the Lost and Found during conferences to see if your student's lost item(s) can be found there.
Student Pick-Up/Drop Off
If you plan to pick up your child early or at dismissal please call or email Aura Perez at aperezcruces@fsd79.org and email your child's homeroom teacher prior to 2:45 p.m (on Wednesdays by 2:15 p.m.) Please note in order to pick up your child from the front office you must do so by 3:00 p.m. (on Wednesdays by 2:30 p.m.) If you need the family sign to display in your car window at parent pick up please let Mrs. Perez Cruces know and we will send one home with your youngest student. Please refer to our Pick-up and Drop-off Procedures for our specific guidelines.
Student Absences
If your child will be absent from school for any reason, please report the absence to the school office by 9:00 a.m. by calling 847-837-0437 option 2. Safety is our number one priority so please help us by reporting as soon as possible. Attendance at school is crucial for your child’s success so every effort should be made to avoid non-health-related absences.
School Lunches
We are going to be phasing out ice cream for sale at the Elementary School. We will begin the phase out by only offering on Fridays. Ice cream is only available to our first and second graders.
