Attendance

We all know that regular attendance is essential to academic success, graduating on time, and ultimately preparing for life after high school. At TLC we focus on employability, and showing up to school and class on time is a major part of being employable. Many of our students and families struggle with attendance, but the only way to improve is for us to work together.

How can you help?

1. Talk with your student about the importance of attending school.
2. Reach out to your student's Advisory teacher if they are struggling with attendance.
3. Refer your student for mental health services if that is affecting their attendance: Counseling Consent Form
4. Take advantage of mentoring and leadership opportunities at TLC and in the surrounding community.

Academic Growth

This year, all of our 8th and 9th graders will be taking the MAP test in Reading and Math in the Fall, Winter, and Spring. We will work with students to set goals and focus on particular skills. Our 10th-12th graders will be preparing for the ACT. All of our Seniors will be taking the official ACT at TLC on October 17th, 18th, and 21st. For more information on the ACT please explore the following resource: Official ACT Website

In addition, our 10th-12th graders will be taking the Kyote test in order to demonstrate college readiness in both Reading and Math.

How can you help?

1. Ask students about their MAP, Kyote, or ACT test experience.
2. Check student grades in Infinite Campus.
3. Monitor student assignments on Canvas.
4. Ask students about their MAP, Kyote, or ACT goals.

Life Readiness

AT TLC our students immerse themselves in the local community by participating in what we call Working Wednesdays, every two weeks. On Working Wednesdays, we transport our students off campus, so they can interact with the community through post-secondary educational site visits, career site visits, community service, and educational experiences. In addition, we will also bring community contacts into our building as well. We have two upcoming Working Wednesday on September 11th and September 25th. Remember, students will be dismissed at 1:10 on these days. Please make sure you are aware of the dates and have signed both permissions below:
