Halloween Reminders
Here at WMS we do not allow students to wear costumes on Halloween. Our student council encourages students to dress in orange and black or their favorite halloween shirt. No masks are allowed.
Health Office Reminders
If your student is not feeling well, they need to report to the Health Office. The health office will assess the student and call home, if appropriate, to determine if they need to be sent home. Students should not be calling home from their cell phone to arrange to be picked up because they are not feeling well without going through the Health Office. Thank you for helping with this protocol!
2nd Quarter Attendance Goals
Second Quarter Attendance Focus
During the first quarter, our focus for attendance was on just being present at school. Now that we are in our second quarter of school our focus will be arriving to school, and class, on time. We encourage parents to have students to school at 7:50 so they can easily be in their seats once released from the gym or PAC. We close the PAC entrance at 7:57 as students arriving at that time would not be able to make it to their class by 8:00. Students are aware they need to go to the main office to get a pass for class so they do not get marked as tardy.
We do recognize that, on occasion, unforeseen variables arise like construction around the school, an alarm that doesn't go off, etc. What we are hoping to reduce is the number of students who have multiple tardies to school and class. Now may be a good time for a discussion with your student about the importance of being on time to school, sports practices, events, etc. as it is a necessary life skill.
In an effort to continue communicating with our families, moving forward, we will send home a letter when a student has reached 5 tardies to school. If a student has been tardy to school 10 times we will set up a student attendance plan. The Dean's will request a meeting with parents if a student reaches 15 tardies to school to see how we can assist. Please never hesitate to reach out if you feel there is anything the school can do to help support your student being on time. We want to help!

WE-SIDE COMMUNITY EVENTS CALENDAR
We are excited to announce the launch of our WE-SIDE Community Events Calendar. This calendar includes dates and times for local events and community offerings.
While we are not a partner, sponsor, or organizer of the listed events, we’d like to share them with you as part of our WE-SIDE initiative, which highlights opportunities available in the greater Omaha community.
Started in the summer of 2020, WE-SIDE stands for Welcoming Equity Support Inclusion Dignity Everyone. This initiative was created to foster a district community where everyone feels valued, connected, and respected. The initiative seeks to build a supportive environment that honors the dignity of every individual, creating a sense of belonging and unity within the Westside community.
The events are listed on the right-hand side of the WCS website homepage. Click on each event for specific logistical information. However, for details or inquiries regarding any of these events, please contact the official event organizers directly.
We are excited to share these opportunities with you and hope you find something new to explore with friends or family members
