Park, look, lock - Get in the habit of looking for your baby, children and pets when you get out of the car and before you lock it. Never leave a child alone, no matter how quickly you believe you will be in and out of the store.
City Park Vandalism
Our West Park and East Park bathrooms had only been open for a week before they were vandalized. Each year we are constantly replacing paper towels holders, soap dispensers, fixing plugged toilets and painting over graffiti. This is costing the taxpayers thousands of dollars. When we are paying for the vandalism repair this is taking away from other park improvements to playground equipment, sprinkler repairs, or other beautifications to our parks. If you see vandalism happening or hear of it happening, please call the City Police Department at 208-934-8436 or call City Hall at 208-934-5669.
Office Closed for Juneteenth
City Hall will also be closed on June 20th for training. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. Payments can be made online at www.goodingidaho.org or by using the dropbox at the front door.
Weed Control - It's a Community Effort!
City of Gooding Residents & Business Owners:
We would like to remind everyone to please help keep our community clean and weed free. Property owners and tenants are responsible for weed control and property cleanup from the center of road to the center of alley. This applies to all industrial, commercial and residential areas. If you need help with disposal of larger quantities the City can provide a truck for disposal, some restrictions may apply.
We commend those who have already removed their weeds and worked to keep their properties clean. We ask those who have not yet removed weeds and or garbage to please do so ASAP. Failure to do so may result in a citation being issued for violating City Codes.
A clean community is a healthy community.
For further information please contact City Police Department at 208-934-8436 or City Hall at 208-934-5669.
This image is an example for citizens who live on a corner and those that don’t. It is the homeowner’s responsibility to maintain the area between the property and the center of the roadway and from the area between the property and the center of the alley.
City Planning & Zoning Vacancy
The Gooding City P & Z Board has a vacant position. The Board typically meets once a month to hear requests for variances, rezones, special permits, planned developments, subdivisions and review of city codes and the comprehensive plan. If you would be interested in volunteering, please contact Mayor Houser at 208-934-5669 or mayor@goodingidaho.org or Deputy Clerk Hayden Peterson at 208-595-4173 or hpeterson@goodingidaho.org.

Message From Mayor Diane Houser
June is just around the corner, hopefully we will be getting warmer weather next week. It has been a very windy and cold spring.
As I mentioned in my last newsletter, the river wall the surveyors have been here and surveying the river. They have finished and the Army Corps of Engineers will be working on the planning stage now. They plan to be back this fall and to do some more surveying. Hopefully they will be starting on the project this fall or early spring. I will keep you updated when we know more.
I just want to say thank you to the Gooding Chamber of Commerce and the city public works crew for putting out the hanging baskets down Main Street. They look great and thankfully the wind has not blown them to pieces. I have received quiet a few complements on how nice they look.
As you all have seen, Les Schwab Tire Center looks like it will be opening soon. Not sure when but watch for their grand opening.
I attended the Idaho School for the Deaf and the Blind Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for the new all-inclusive playground. It was amazing to see all the new playground equipment. The musical playground features where really cool. I had to play with all of them while I was walking through all the different areas. I was even able to get on the swing and have a good time. My husband stood there and laughed at me. It brought back memories. Their Board did a wonderful job. After an extensive planning process and months of construction, the final project allows students and community members of all abilities to play and interact together. They did a wonderful job and they should be proud.
I hear they had a great turn out at the Yard Sale put on for the Gooding Dog Pound. A great big thank you to Susie Peterson and her crew for all the hard work they do for the dog pound and the dogs in our community. They are always trying to raise funds for medical needs of the animals. A big thank you also to Officer Mike Kelley for all of his hard work and dedication too.
Just a reminder that May 31st is Glanbia Fun Day in the East Park.
There will be a movie in the West Park that night when it starts to get dark around 9:15. Bring you kids or grandkids and come watch the movie. Bring your chairs, blankets and popcorn and have a fun evening. Hope to see you there. I’ll also be there in a chair with popcorn.
Have a nice Memorial Day weekend. Stay safe camping or doing whatever you are doing and have a fun time. God Bless our Nation and God Bless our Soldiers.
