C. Illinois School Board Members' Day

Superintendent Dr. Brian Kaye recognized and celebrated the Arlington Heights School District 25 Board of Education members for volunteering and supporting public education and for their commitment and contributions to our public schools, students and community.

In this portion of the meeting, Board members catch one another up on the happenings each member has experienced as an individual since the last meeting. Also, some Board members are appointed as representatives to attend meetings on behalf of the District 25 Board of Education for different organizations. Those members convey relative information to the entire Board at the monthly meeting.

A. Tentative Tax Levy

Adopting a levy on an annual basis is one of the major functions of our Board of Education. Revenues from local property taxes generate approximately 83% of all revenues for this School District.

B. Workers' Compensation Renewal

That the Board of Education approve the workers compensation renewal through the Illinois Public Risk Fund as presented.

Assistant Superintendent of Business/CSBO, Stacey Mallek, presented the renewal for 2025 Workers' Compensation which reflects a 11.29% increase over the 2024 renewal premium. Two factors impact the renewal: projected payroll and workers compensation rates.

C. 2025 ISBE School Maintenance Project Grant

That the Board of Education approve the FY2025 School Maintenance Project Grant application as presented.

Assistant Superintendent of Business/CSBO, Stacey Mallek, brought application of the School Maintenance Project Grant (SMPG) to the Board for approval and signature. The SMPG is a dollar-for-dollar state matching grant program providing awards up to $50,000 to grantees exclusively for the maintenance or upkeep of buildings or structures for educational purposes.

District 25 is writing the grant to offset the cost of the replacing the air handler units at Westgate Elementary School.

• Sarah James, Data Coordination Specialist, of Employee Data Analytics requested information on District 25 employees; a response was provided on October 16, 2024.
• Marie Campbell requested information on portable toilet rentals; a response was provided on October 22, 2024.

That the Board of Education approve the Resolution Recognizing Illinois School Board Member Day, November 15, 2024.

This motion was brought to the Board by Superintendent, Dr. Brian Kaye in recognition of the invaluable contributions of school board members to the Arlington Heights School District 25 community. The key points I want to acknowledge are their selfless service, community leadership, fiscal responsibility, policy-making, and accountability to the community.
