Greetings Team Bridgetown! This week, students will get to show off their projects they have been working hard on for 6 weeks! Then we will be learning how to write properly formatted and punctuated dialogue using our book and outside exemplars.
*Please note that all class notes and worksheets are on the Canvas page.*
Science - Ms. Banson
Hi Team Bridgetown!
This week in science, students will be exploring the interior structure of the Earth through an engaging scale activity. They will also delve deeper into plate tectonics with a Gizmo activity and learn about Pangaea and the asteroids that contributed to the extinction of the dinosaurs. Additionally, Roots Quizzes will resume in Term 2 starting in November, as students have completed all their root word lessons for Term 1.
This week marks the beginning of our upcoming field trips, so please remind your child to pack their lunch and adhere to the behavior expectations during these outings. Lastly, if your child has any missing assignments, we encourage you to ensure they complete these before the end of the term.
World Geography & Cultures - Martini
This week students will be taking home review materials (political map, physical map, glossary/vocab page) for our first continent-based map quiz on Thursday, 10/24. On the “Africa Map Quiz” students will have to memorize the locations of 10 countries, 12 physical features, and 5 vocabulary terms. Additional materials, including a study list and review games, will be available throughout the week on Canvas-Modules.
Additionally, we are up to our third current events homework assignment. Students should find a news article of their choosing to complete CEA #3 on paper OR in Canvas-Modules due on Friday, 10/25.
Deal Library Corner
The library orientations have completed for all students! Most students have now checked out at least one book from the library! 6th grade students should be almost ready to return their books if they haven't already. Notices will go out next week for 6th students who have overdue materials and over the following two weeks for 7th and 8th graders.
Students are able to see their current loans by accessing their library accounts through the Clever app called "Destiny Discover". They can follow the process below to see items that they have checked out:
Log into Clever (clever.com/in/dcpsk12)
Search "Destiny Discover" or navigate to the Library Resources section and click on the icon.
Click on the "My Stuff" link at the top of the screen to see any items that are checked out.
Students who have lost materials or see items that may be linked to their account by mistake should speak with Mr. Reichlen.
There are no fines or penalties for lost materials. Donations of hard cover titles of middle school-age-appropriate works in good condition are always accepted if families are able to replace lost materials.
