MES Weekly Scoop
It's A Great Day to Be A Bulldog! Bulldogs Don't Quit!
Principal's Note
October 28 - November 1, 2024
Dear Students, Staff, and Families,
It doesn't seem possible that we are in our last week of October. The school year is moving along quickly and I probably say it all too often, but I appreciate the support our school has with our families.
Halloween-October 31st
As Halloween approaches this Thursday, I love the opportunities that our small community provides for our students. Anywhere from Trunk or Treats to neighborhoods passing out candy, to our beloved Black Squirrel Fall Festival. I hope our students enjoy all of the festivities while staying safe.
At school, we'll be celebrating the season with Halloween-themed activities in classrooms. A quick reminder that our students do not dress up in their costumes at school, but can wear a Halloween/Fall themed shirt (that is also school appropriate). We do look forward to enjoying some fun fall activities together. Each classroom teacher will be communicating with parents that have signed up for the Halloween party committee or if they need students to bring items.
Red Ribbon Week-Conclusion
We also wrapped up a fantastic Red Ribbon Week with a visit from Willie the Wildcat from KSU at our Minute to Win It Assembly! The students had an amazing time, and we're grateful to our Marysville Police Department for sponsoring this week with Mrs. Tjaden.
Please note that on November 1st, teachers will be engaging in professional development to continue enhancing learning experiences for our students. Thank you for your continued support and partnership!

Red Ribbon Week Highlight! π·β
We had such a fun week learning about healthy habits and being "stars" with drug free lives. A huge shout out to the Marysville Police Department with their dedication and support for our local schools. Mrs. Tjaden and all teachers played a crucial role in making this week a success!

MES PTO Auction Baskets
The auction baskets concluded on Friday, October 25th at 1 PM. Winners were notified by a PTO committee member. Please send or drop off payments to the MES Office. PTO will be working with you and the classroom teacher to set those dates set! Congratulations to all of the winners!
Important HANDBOOK Policy Updates
24/25 MES Parent Handbook
As temperatures are dropping, it can oftentimes bring on unwanted sicknesses. Please review the revised 24/25 MES Parent Handbook on our policies for staying home when sick and when to return to school. If your child went to the doctor, please bring a doctor's note upon returning to school.
Health Room
A child must stay home if they have a fever of 100 degrees, have been vomiting, have diarrhea, or have symptoms that would keep them from participating in school.
MES follows the 12 and 24 hour rule. Children must be fever free for 24 hours without medication. Children should stay home for 12 hours after the last time they vomited or had diarrhea. If a child is prescribed antibiotics they need to stay home 24 hours after the first dose.
Medication
Our nurse can distribute medication. Medication must be kept in the nurseβs office, be in the original labeled container, and an authorization from the prescribing care provider/physician must be presented each new school year for all medications. Written requests from the physician or dentist AND parent/guardian should accompany all medication to be administered. All βover the counterβ drugs such as aspirin, Tylenol, and cough medicine, etc. will require a written form signed by the parent/guardian. Inhalers and cough drops may be kept in studentsβ book bags. Emergency medications for life-threatening allergic conditions may also be carried by the student with the appropriate documentation from the physician and parent/guardian. Please communicate with the school nurse or elementary office before sending medication to school for your student. (See BOE Policy JGFGB).
Allergies
If your student has an allergy please let the nurse know and she will provide a form to be signed by your studentβs medical provider.
