Home Learning over Break
Dear Walker Families,
Some families have requested activities to practice over the break, so we’ve prepared optional resources that we believe will benefit your child. Each grade level has specific assignments to complete, and students who participate will earn a fun reward for their efforts!
The holiday break is a wonderful time to incorporate real-life learning experiences into your child’s day! Here are a few fun and easy ways to support their growth:
Grocery Store Adventures: Have your child help create a shopping list, find items that start with specific letters, or compare prices to practice math skills.
Road Trip Math: While driving, look at road signs and play math games, like adding numbers on license plates or identifying shapes in road signs.
Cooking Together: Use recipes to teach measurements, fractions, and following step-by-step directions. Let your child read the instructions out loud and help measure ingredients.
Everyday Conversations: Encourage them to ask questions about how things work or explain their thinking when making decisions.
We are also thrilled to have IXL back for our students! This is a great opportunity for families to explore the software together and talk with your child about the skills they are practicing in IXL. 1st-5th grade students have a list below of suggested activities in IXL.
These activities are simple, fun, and can make a big difference in building your child’s skills and confidence. Thank you for encouraging learning at home and supporting your child’s growth over the break!
Grade-Level At Home Opportunities
Kindergarten: Students will receive a Bingo sheet to complete at home. The bingo sheet will need to be returned to school on Tuesday, January 7th.
1st Grade:
Complete one reading and one math activity on IXL.
2nd Grade: Work in the Recommendations section on IXL.
The top 5 students in each class who answer the most questions correctly and appear on the Leaderboard will earn a prize.
3rd Grade: Each student will receive a specific assignment sheet detailing what to complete.
4th Grade: Go to My IXL Plan and complete lessons with 80% or higher accuracy.
5th Grade: Complete at least 120 minutes in ELA or Math, achieving 80% or higher accuracy.
How to Access IXL
Computer Option: Go to the website: Open a web browser and navigate to www.ixl.com.
Mobile App Option: Download the IXL app from your app store to access IXL on your phone or tablet.
How to Login
Login: Use your child’s unique username and password, provided on your child’s IXL login card sent home with your child.
IXL has Parent Access which will allow you to monitor your child’s progress and reports by logging into their IXL account.
This is a fantastic way to keep your child engaged in learning while working toward a reward!
Thank you for supporting your child’s education.

How Can Parents Access the Family Portal to View State Testing Data for your Child?
Parents and guardians can access the Family Portal in one of three ways:
- Visit the Students and Families page on the ATLAS portal at https://atlasportal.org and enter a unique Access Code along with their child’s date of birth and first name as it appears in TIDE.
- Accessing the Family Portal login page directly at https://ar-familyportal.cambiumast.com/.
- Through an email sent directly to families via TIDE. These emails will contain a time-limited link that enables families to retrieve their child’s unique Access Code. This code can then be entered at either link listed above.
How to Access the Family Portal and View Scores from Spring Summative 23-24 (current 4th & 5th Grade Students)
This guide provides step-by-step instructions for parents to easily access the Family Portal and view their child's academic scores from the ATLAS assessment that all 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students were assessed on in the Spring of 2024. By following the outlined process, parents can efficiently retrieve important educational information, including performance reports and detailed achievement descriptors. Understanding their child's performance can help parents support their learning journey more effectively. This resource is essential for staying informed and engaged in their child's education.
