Lincoln O.M. Post
August 2024 Edition
A Note from Mrs. McCurry
Dear LOM Families,
Last Friday we completed our first full week of the school year, and wow am I impressed by how well it went. Our staff and students are off to a great start with routines and learning. There is such a positive atmosphere around campus and kids are excited to be here learning and growing.
Just a few reminders to help you and us keep everything running smoothly:
- Morning Arrival: Students MAY NOT be on campus prior to breakfast (8:30 am) or 8:45 am when our soft start bell rings. Please do not allow your children to play on the playground equipment when they get to school either.
- Afternoon Pickup: please make sure your student(s) are picked up by 4:10 pm (Monday - Thursday) and 2:10 (Friday).
- Parking: we are so appreciative of those of you who have been avoiding double parking behind the cars in front of the office. Remember, we have our west parking lot and students are able to meet you on the north end of campus off of Victoria Dr. as we have a gate back there as well.
- Visitors: if you plan to visit during school hours, please check in at the office and get a visitor's badge.
Students and our staff have been working diligently these first couple of weeks, but we know you have been, too. Thank you for what you are doing to ensure your child is ready for each school day.
Please read below for more important information about things happening at our school during the month of August.
Yours truly,
Shae McCurry

Cell Phones & Smart Watches
The D51 School Board has recently updated the policy which outlines student use of personal devices such as cell phones and smart watches. Here at LOM we are enforcing this policy by having students power down their devices when they get to school and then having them keep those devices in their backpacks for the entirety of the school day.
If students struggle to keep their devices in their backpacks and turned off, the first time will be a warning with the teacher holding on to the device for the day. Any time after that, students will need to get their device from the office and potentially need to call home to have parents come get the device from the office.
We are fortunate here at LOM to not have many issues with cell phones and smart watches, but we do ask for your help and support in reinforcing this policy with your student(s).

Learn Like a Leopard Night
Please join us Wednesday, August 21st at 5:30. We will begin in the cafeteria with all families and staff for a short presentation. We will then begin individual classroom breakout sessions starting at 5:45. There will be another breakout session in each classroom starting at 6:05 in case you have more than one child at LOM.
This event serves as our school parent information night and is a great way to learn about your child's classroom and what to expect this school year.
We are also going to be doing a gift card drawing for those families who come that evening, so please make sure you sign in at your child's classroom when you go.
Can't wait to see you there!
