WMHS Weekly Information
December 9-13
From the Principal's Desk
Zebra Nation,
Please know that we are doing everything that we can to keep WMHS safe and with a positive learning environment. We will continue to have a police presence around the school and have more adult support in our halls. We will also continue to limit hall passes during the school day. Students should go to class and stay in class. Finally, students should not have hoodies or ski masks on their heads inside the building.
Huge 2 weeks ahead for the 2nd Quarter. We then go on the Holiday Break for 2 weeks and upon our return, we have 2 weeks of school leading to the end of the 2nd Quarter and 1st Semester.
Scholars - you need to get those 2nd Quarter grades up as high as you can. Be in school everyday.... Stay on task.... Stay the course.... Make good choices.... You got this! We got you!
Have a great week!
Cory J. Gildersleeve
Principal

Cool Classrooms
AP World History students put Ghengis Khan on trial for crimes against humanity as an uncivilized conqueror. Two classes combined for this special event to act as defense, prosecution, witnesses, and jurors, in the courtroom of the Honorable Judge McGovern. Prosecutors presented the stronger case, leading the jury to rule Ghengis Khan as guilty. This activity speaks to the power of role play in instruction, as students had to thoroughly immerse themselves in understanding the history behind their part.
In another role-play-based activity, AP Government students acted as the Electoral College to count electoral college votes in a mock election between Donuts and Cookies. Each student acted as two states and pledged their assigned number of electors for their chosen candidate. Despite the best efforts of one passionate but misguided patriot, Donuts won both the Electoral College and the popular vote in a landslide.
