Bremerton High School Update
from Principal Ryan Nickels
August 28, 2023
Dear BHS Parents/Guardians:
We hope this letter finds you in high spirits excited for the upcoming school year. This year we conclude our first week with a home football game against a school from Canada: the Mount Douglas Rams. Along with this international contest we will be honoring our Military with a moment of recognition during our pre-game festivities. We expect an increased media presence as well as increased spectators from outside our community for this game.
This promises to be a big event for our school, and we want to share some important information about increased attendance, safety measures, and ticketing procedures.
Increased Attendance
We are excited to welcome back our students, families, alumni, and supporters to celebrate the spirit of our school at the upcoming football game. Our goal is to create an energetic atmosphere that fosters a sense of unity and camaraderie among our community members focused on our students. With the anticipation of increased attendance at the game, we strongly suggest purchasing your tickets in advance and plan on arriving early. Our ticket booths and gates will open at 5 p.m.
Safety Measures & Guidelines
The safety and well-being of our students, families, and staff remain our top priority. We want to reassure you that we are taking all necessary precautions to ensure a safe environment during the football game. For the safety of all students and spectators:
Only coaches and authorized students and staff are allowed on the Memorial Stadium track and field before and during football games.
No spectators or media are allowed on the track or field after the game until all participants have left the field and all equipment is put away.
There will be designated entry and exit points to streamline foot traffic and ensure a smooth flow of attendees. We ask attendees to leave the stadium right after the game ends.
We will have an increased security presence for the game. This includes uniformed officers, plain clothes personnel, and additional security staff.
All middle and elementary school students must be accompanied by an adult.
Upon exiting, there will be no re-entry for students.
NEW! Memorial Stadium Bag Policy
Bremerton High School has implemented a clear bag policy for all home football games. Spectators are allowed to bring the following:
Clear Bags Only
- Bags or backpacks that are clear plastic, vinyl or PVC and do not exceed 12" x 6" x 12.”
- One-gallon clear plastic freezer bags (ziploc bag or similar).
- Attendees might be subjected to bag checks upon entry. We recommend bringing minimal items to expedite this process, in the event your bag is checked.
Small Clutches/Purses/Wallets
- Small clutch bags that do not exceed 4.5" x 6.5", with or without a handle or strap, may be carried into the stadium along with one of the clear bag options.
Other allowable items
Seat cushions that have no pockets, zippered compartments, or extra straps.
Medically necessary items.
Umbrellas are permitted, so long as they do not obstruct fellow fans' views or lessen their experience.
Prohibited items
Noise makers such as (but not limited to) cowbells, horns and whistles.
Oversized bags placed in acceptable clear bags.
Weapons (any firearms, knives, or other objects that could be used as weapons), explosives/fireworks (any type of explosive device, including fireworks, firecrackers, and smoke bombs)
Alcohol and drugs
Projectiles: anything that can be thrown, for example balls or frisbees
Poles/sticks: including flag poles or any rigid stick that could be used as a weapon or obstruct views (including banners)
Any other item deemed dangerous or disruptive by security or staff.
These guidelines are all posted on our website at www.BremertonSchools.org/KnightsFootball.
