VOLUNTEER AT WAVM
Parents, grandparents, alumni, and interested community members are welcome to get involved in Maynard's amazing, student-run radio and television station, WAVM. We meet as an advisory group on the first Tuesday of each month (February 4 at 7:00 PM), and there is a LOT of behind-the-scenes help needed! Help the students keep the station going by volunteering as a shift chaperone. Sponsor a program and increase community awareness of your business. Raise scholarship money by volunteering at the Spring Fling on March 28. Help us plan our end-of-year banquet! Get involved in the technological back-end as we renew our online presence. If you have any questions, or you want to help out, please get in touch with Anne Newey at 978-897-5213 or Mike Basile at mbasile@maynard.k12.ma.us. You are also welcome to attend our meetings!
JOIN THE SCHEDULING COMMITTEE
MHS MOCK TRIAL COMPETITION SEASON 2025
The Massachusetts Bar Association’s Mock Trial Program offers high school students from across the state an opportunity to test their skills as lawyers and witnesses in a simulated courtroom competition. Throughout the competition, students learn about the fundamentals of the American judicial system and how it can impact their lives.
Maynard High School's team competed in January, learning about law, courtroom procedure, and rights -- and gaining 21st Century presentation and public speaking skills that will help them in any career!
MHS MUSIC STUDENTS QUALIFY FOR DISTRICT AND STATE ENSEMBLES
A huge round of applause goes out to all the Maynard Music Students who auditioned for the Central District Senior Festival Ensembles! We had six students audition for these ensembles this fall. We are excited and proud of our students for taking advantage of this wonderful opportunity to make music with students from around the area. We are also grateful to our two amazing music educators, Mr. Kozik and Ms. Fournier, for their instruction and their enthusiasm.
Our auditions paid off! Two of our students were accepted and will go on to perform at Mechanics Hall in Worcester later this month. Congratulations to Gavin Izaguirre on voice and Matthew Lucas on guitar! Matthew also received a recommendation to audition for the All-State Jazz Band because of his high audition score.

The mission of the Maynard Special Education Parent Advisory Council (SEPAC) is to work for the understanding of, respect for, and support of all children with special needs in the community.
Maynard SEPAC works in collaboration with MPS community members to:
· Promote a network of parents and forums to share information
· Advise the school district on special education programs, training needs, and policy
· Promote communication between PAC members; local, state and national organizations, councils and groups
· Promote understanding, acceptance, and inclusion within the community
· Provide informational forums for parents, students, educators, and professionals
Joining is easy - any community member who attends a SEPAC meeting or event during the year is considered a voting member. There are many ways to contribute and we will work with you to identify something that works with your schedule and responsibilities.
