Macleans Primary School Community
Hello Everyone
I do hope we all had a good long weekend the other day, allowing for the Teacher Only Day last Friday. All the teachers enjoyed a full day of Professional Learning & Development as we all focussed on Structured Literacy from Year 1 to Year 6. Structured Literacy is a comprehensive approach to all things reading & writing, designed to provides explicit, systematic, and sequential teaching of literacy at multiple levels. A Structured Literacy approach to reading & writing marries up very well with our Macleans Local Curriculum and the Macleans Learning Pathways.

Peer Mediators at Macleans Primary School
Our Peer Mediators play an important part in making our playgrounds a happier, safer and a more peaceful place to be. They are equipped with the skills to solve problems in a constructive and co-operative way. To help co-construct a peaceful resolution to playground concerns. Some of these concerns are around mis-underestandings around game rules, sharing of equipment and space, and ensuring everyone is included. Ka Pai! Well done to our amazing Peer Mediators.

Macleans Primary School Strategic Fundraising Focus
Macleans Primary School and PTA are partnered in all things Macleans Primary, most recently the swimming pool solar heating, contributing $30K towards the project. The BoT and PTA have decided to begin fundraising for a large, all-weather canopy that will cover the majority of the paved areas. The vision is for the canopy to look similar to BBI's 'Cloud', except with artificial surface. The projected costs will be in the $400K range and timeframe is 3-5 years. Watch this space for more updates!
