Madrona Monthly Newsletter
November 1st, 2024
Dear Madrona Families,
As we welcome the month of November, I want to take a moment to express my gratitude for our wonderful school community. We are so thankful for all your support and the love that you show our community each and every day. WE APPRECIATE YOU!!
This month, we have many exciting activities planned. Our students have been working hard and we look forward to showcasing their efforts during our upcoming Parent-Teacher Conferences on November 23rd - 26th. This is a great opportunity to discuss your child's progress and collaborate with your child's teacher on ways to support their growth.
We are excited to announce Madrona will have a Thanksgiving Food Drive, starting on November 6th and running until November 26th. We encourage all families, if able, to participate by donating non-perishable food items to help support our community. Please bring your donations to the main office. Together, we can make a significant impact.
Additionally, on November 7th, our students will participate in our annual Move-a-Thon sponsored by our wonderful PTSA. During this event, our students will participate in movement activities to raise money for our school. Thank you PTSA team for sponsoring this fabulous event. Today, a permission slip will be sent home with your student. Please complete and return to school by Tuesday, November 5th. For more information, please review this link: www.pledgestar.com/madronaptsa or visit our PTSA website at www.madronaptsa.org.
Thank you for your continued support and involvement. It truly makes a difference in our school. If you have any questions or suggestions, please feel free to reach out.
Wishing you a warm and joyful November!
Sincerely,
Regina Carter

Scholastic Book Fair
Dear Families,
Get ready—the Scholastic Book Fair is coming to our school! This is a great opportunity to connect with your child over the thrill of bringing home new books to dive into again and again. Studies show that kids read more when they choose books for themselves. And fostering a love of independent reading leads to a wide variety of benefits—including academic success and improved mental health.
Here’s everything you need to know about the Book Fair:
Dates: November 18-November 27
Location: Library
Family Event schedule and location: Saturday November 23 8:00-4:00
There’s even more info on our school’s Book Fair homepage:
https://bookfairs.scholastic.com/bf/madronaelementaryschool5
While you’re there, set up a Book Fair eWallet, the digital payment account that allows your child to shop for books at the Fair without cash. Then share your eWallet link so friends and extended family can add funds.
When you fund an eWallet, you’ll have the opportunity to contribute to a giving initiative called
Share the Fairâ„¢. Your contributions directly support our students who need help buying books
from the Fair.
Many of us still remember the rush of finding the perfect book at a Scholastic Book Fair. I hope you’ll join your child at our school’s Fair and share a reading experience they’ll remember forever.
Happy Reading,
Principal Carter

PS: Need one more reason to visit the Book Fair? Every purchase at the Fair benefits our school!
