Message from the Principal
We are getting closer to the start of the 23-24 school year! We cannot wait to welcome all our Dragons back to our halls, old or new. As a reminder, the first day of school for 1st-5th graders is Monday, August 28. Teacher assignments will be visible in ParentVue beginning Monday, August 21. All placements should be considered tentative, as enrollment will continue to shift throughout the month of September.
Kinder families, please note that although your child has been assigned a teacher, class placements will not be finalized until the end of the second week of school in order to create balanced & equitable classroom communities. Also, as a reminder, Kinder families will receive an invite next week to schedule a meet and greet with the kinder team the week of August 28.
Lastly, the PTO and Findley staff, cordially invite you to attend a PTO Otter Pop Social and Meet and Greet next Thursday, August 24 from 1:30-3:00pm. During this time, families are invited to come by and socialize with other Findley families on our playground. In addition, the building will be open from 1:30-2:30 for 1st-5th grade students and families to visit their new classrooms and meet their teachers. Incoming kinders and their families are welcome to attend the social and visit the inside of the school, however, classroom assignments won't be accurate so there are no meet and greets with teachers. This is not a supply drop off, or a time to visit at length with teachers as they will be busy getting ready for the start of year. This is time to see our building, our new walls, and say hi to your teachers. Back to School night is scheduled for September 6, 2023. More info about that in our next edition of the Dragon News.

School Meals

To apply for meal benefits, lease see the Meal Benefits webpage to get started. The free and reduced-cost meal program offers many benefits beyond nutrition for participating families, including fee waivers, activity scholarships and school supplies. We encourage all families to take advantage of this option, if eligible.
Families are encouraged to keep a balance of $5 in their students' account for last minute milk purchases. While students will always be provided a lunch, regardless of balance on account, milk cannot be given without payment.
Start & End Times and Going Home Plans
Please be sure to communicate your child's going home plan with their teacher on the first day of school.
Arrival & Dismissal Maps and Procedures
Saltzman Lot is not available for parking, drop off or pick up during arrival and dismissal.
Dogs on Campus
Board Policy:
KGB - Public Conduct on District Property
16. Bring an animal into a district building without prior administrator approval and, where appropriate, only when proof of current rabies vaccination has been provided. Dogs are prohibited on district grounds. All other animals on district property are permitted with prior district approval only. Animals serving the disabled are permitted as provided by law;
TAKE A STEP IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION!
Families, let's work together to ensure our children's safety on the streets. Please remember to set a good example for our students by using the crosswalk instead of crossing mid-block when you are picking up your student. To help everyone remember, we will have painted footprints marking the safe route to cross the street. Thank you and stay safe!
