Windermere Family Update
Windermere Weekly Parent Update 4.12.24
It has been so fun this week to listen to our students share how they experienced the eclipse on Monday. It sounded like so many families were able to enjoy the time together.
This week has been a busy one and our students are working hard each day. We have so many fun events planned, so please make sure you read the updates from your child’s teacher.
Have a great weekend. Enjoy the sunshine.
Julie

Congratulations to Steve Gdovin
I shared last week, Windermere’s UACA Golden Apple winner, but didn’t include the district Golden Apple winner, the AMAZING Mr. Gdovin, who is a founding member of the Explorations team and also a WINDERMERE parent. Our students LOVE Explorations SO VERY MUCH!!! And, that is in a large part because of Mr. Gdovin’s passion, drive and love for what he does with all elementary students in the district. Congratulations Mr. Gdovin! We are so glad you are part of our team!
Special Education Family Survey
The survey team at Ohio State University is looking forward to Upper Arlington parents to complete the Special Education Family Survey. We have received a notice from the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce indicating that our district is a participant in this year’s survey.
The survey is open now until May 7, 2024. Please include the notice in your parent newsletters until May 7th. It is important that we do our best to assure that all parents/caregivers of children receiving special education services have the opportunity to participate. The survey has been translated into 5 different languages (Arabic, Nepali, Somali, Chinese, and Spanish). You can find these translated versions at HERE. Please use the password: 2024 to access the files.
You Belong UA Family Book Read
You’re invited to join the inaugural You Belong UA Family Book Read! This collaboration between UA Schools and PTOs is meant to build community through shared experiences. Our first book is Just Roll With It, a middle-grade graphic novel that focuses on the themes of wellness and belonging.
Join us Saturday, May 11 from noon until 2 p.m. at Thompson Park for a great family event featuring a discussion with the illustrator and author of Just Roll With It, Veronica Agarwal and Lee Durfey-Lavoie.
For more information on the You Belong UA Family Book Read, please visit youbelongua.org. If you have any questions or need support in order to participate, please email wellbeing@uaschools.org.
Student iPad Distribution Information
Each student will return their old iPad and receive a new 10th-generation iPad as the 2024-25 school year begins. These new devices include a keyboard case plus increased storage, processor speed, and a USB-C charging cable and power adapter.
Elementary Students:
Elementary Student devices will be automatically configured and ready for use when they are delivered to classrooms prior to the first day of school.
Middle and High School Students:
All Middle and High School students will need to pick up their device over the summer during the weeks of July 29th and August 5th. For students that are not able to pick up their devices during these 2 weeks, we will have iPads available for pickup at the tech offices in each building at the start of school.
There will be more details coming out in future updates.
Moving this Summer?
If your family is moving this summer, please let Ms. Maria (mbernon@uaschools.org) know so she can send you either a District Withdrawal form (if moving out of UA) or a Change of Address form.
