Pirates Post
Week of December 13th
Message from Principal Drew...
It is final exam week at Perquimans County High School. Parents this means that is is very important that your child get rest each night, breakfast each morning, and give their best effort each day to perform at their highest levels on their exams. Each final exam is calculated as twenty percent (20%) of the final grade in each class so the score your child earns on their exams can have a major impact on their overall grade. Encourage them to study and get rest each night and to each breakfast each day before testing begins. Most importantly encourage them and build them up each day as they leave for school. A positive word of encouragement can change their outlook and give them confidence to succeed. All exams will begin as close to 8:00 AM as possible so it is important that your child arrive to school on time each day.
Our exam schedule is as follows:
Monday all students will take their third period exams.
Tuesday all students will take their fourth period exams.
Wednesday all students will take their first period exams.
Thursday all student will take their second period exams.
The order of exams is set this way to accommodate for larger testing groups and the space needed to test them.
Our sports schedule this week includes our basketball games at Lawrence Academy for our girls team on Monday, home basketball games on Tuesday, a swim meet in Manteo and JV boys and varsity girls at Currituck on Wednesday, and Varsity boys only at NECP on Friday.
Parents also make sure to plan for our two early release dates this week. The high school will release students early on Thursday and Friday of this week. School will dismiss at 12:40 on both of these days so please plan accordingly for pickup and after school supervision.
This is an important week for your student's overall success. Encourage them, help them study, make sure they get plenty of rest each night, and make sure they eat breakfast each day. A well prepared, well rested, and well fed student consistently performs better and we want all of our students to do their best each day. With your help and encouragement we can make that happen.
