GUARD | PERFORM AMERICA | MEYERSON
LAST YEAR WE WERE IN IRELAND
CONGRATULATIONS TO THE WINTERGUARD
- There were 41 teams in their division from all over Texas and Oklahoma. There are multiple classifications and prelims went ALL DAY on Saturday.
- 15 made finals and Wylie was 10th in prelims!
- Finals were on Sunday and Wylie moved up 2 places and finished 8th!
The show was amazing and I will admit that I teared up just a little bit...it was SO GOOD!
They are gearing up for Texas state finals and our first appearance ever at the WGI World Championships in Dayton, Ohio in mid April. Congrats to your grit and team mindedness...it pays off!
VOLUNTEERS NEEDED FOR CONCERT ATTIRE ORGANIZATION/DISTRIBUTION
- Thursday morning (7:00 AM)- Blouse and pant re-fit. Bring your items that did not fit.
- Friday morning (7:00 AM)- Boys tuxedos will be distributed.

FORMAL ATTIRE CHECK OUT THIS WEEK
We have a very small window of time to get all of our formal attire in and checked out this week. It is imperative that you do not miss your check out date & time. You were sized last semester and will be receiving your formal attire based on your sizing.
HOW IT WORKS
- You were sized last semester and will be receiving your formal attire based on your sizing.
- You MUST take it home the day it is checked out to you to try it on.
- When you take it home, if it does not fit, come on Friday for a different size to try.

- THURSDAY- RE FIT for blouses/pants that did not fit.
- Friday - Formal Attire Check Out ALL BOYS | 7:00AM Seniors & Juniors / 7:30AM Sophomore / 8:00AM Freshmen). You will receive your bow tie and cummerbund if you ordered it from last year's registration (usually freshmen). If you are an upper class-man, locate for your black bow tie and cummerbund. If lost, go to the store and purchase ASAP...don't ask me where to go...Google.
PLAN OUT YOUR FOOTWEAR/Tuxedo Shirt For a Tuxedo
- For tuxedos you will need a black dress shoe and black socks. Some use their marching shoes if they are in good condition. You will also need a tuxedo shirt if you are a boy wearing a tuxedo.
- For girls formal attire (pants/blouse) you will need a black closed-toe formal shoe.

LOOKING AHEAD TO FALL BREAK OCTOBER 7-14, 2023
Wylie ISD has approved the school calendar for 2023-24. This includes a fall break; however, all athletic and fine arts contests, rehearsals and productions will still run during that week. Meaning, even though WISD has a fall break scheduled, there will still be a football game and contests. This means there will be rehearsals too. Below is our plan for that week, so if you are looking to go away some time, here are the dates we will have games, rehearsals and contests.

SERVICE AWARD
Camaraderie Level of Service 10-30 points | Excellence in Service 40+ Points
- Work 4 hours of service- Sports Concessions Stands (typically 2 hours per game), Contest or Concert setup/hosting at designated JH/HS band event. Each hour of service is worth 10 points. You may work more than 4 hours, however no more than 40 points can be obtained towards a letter jacket.
- Participate in all Band Contests during the year.
- No absence from any performance unless excused by the Band Director prior to the performance.
Note: Due to the increasing numbers of Band students wishing to letter each year, the Band Director may establish alternative means of meeting the Service requirements. Those students who cannot work in the concession stand on Tuesday or Thursday nights should check with the Band Director during football season to obtain alternate Service credit.
