Oak Ridge JH/HS Weekly Brief
Week 4 (9/9/24)
Mr. Collier's Thoughts
Mr. Collier
Week 4 is completed! We had a crazy busy week with the SEMO District Fair, JH Sports, and High School Sports. Our students did a great job of working through the busy week and staying focused on the tasks at hand. I am proud of all of our students and all they achieved this week. I was amazed by our FFA and 4-H members this week as they showed their animals and earned countless awards. They have been raising these animals, working with them day and night in order to show them this week! I am not surprised that our students earned multiple grand champion awards and so many other accolades. We have some hard working students, athletes, FFA members, 4-H members, band members and so much more. Our students are truly amazing! I look forward to another eventful week as we are off next Friday (9/20/24) for the East Perry Fair as well as Monday (9/23/24) for teacher professional development.
Thank you all and as I tell the students each day:
"Make good choices, wear your seatbelts, and tell your parents you love them!"

Things Mr. Collier Needs Help With
Oak Ridge is a community with a long standing tradition of taking care of one another. I am no different and sometimes I need help too. You will notice every week I will need help with certain things around the school and I am looking for leaders that want to help make a positive impact on Oak Ridge Schools!
- Kindness. Please speak with your student(s) about being kind and what it means to be respectful of others and any differences you may have with someone else. We want to encourage our students to treat everyone with respect including themselves.
- Cell phone policy. The cell phone policy has not changed and we had very minimal issues last year! Great job students and teachers.
- Parking Lot Before School. I need everyone to come inside the school when you arrive on campus. A lot can happen in a parking lot and to mitigate risks we need students to park their car and immediately enter the school through the main entrance.
- ICU Missing Assignment Program. This year we will be implementing ICU. ICU stands for "Intensive Care Unit". Students with missing work that has been missing for more than 3 days will be placed on the ICU list. Coach Ward will be checking in with students on the ICU list and pulling students from elective courses if necessary. If a student remains on the list for more than 5 days administration may assign afterschool or before school tutoring.

IMPORTANT! Meal Payment Information!
Parents if you are paying meal accounts or any other fees for students at both buildings please write separate checks/cash. Student deposits will be made to student accounts on Fridays, unless we are out of school. Then it will be done on the last day of attendance for the week. Please be understanding if this process is slightly delayed some weeks. The building secretaries work diligently to get deposits in, but sometimes this process gets delayed due to outside circumstances. Thank you for your understanding.

Nurse's Corner!
The health department will be on campus October 16th at 1 PM to give out flu shots. Registration for flu shots will be online. A link will be posted in the newsletter soon to register ahead of time.
Dental screenings will be November 1, 2025. Please return permission forms to indicate if you want your child to receive the fluoride treatment. Treatments are free and help prevent your child from getting cavities!
There are free covid tests in the nurse office for students, staff and families to take home. Contact the nurse to have tests sent home with your student.
Students, staff members and family members exhibiting flu-like symptoms can now be tested in the nurse office. A consent form must be signed prior to testing. This is a combo test that tests for Covid/Flu A&B. Tests are free.

FFA
Kelby Schoen and Ella Morrison did a great job yesterday during the Dairy Cattle Show. Several members exhibited projects in the FFA building.
Taylor won Grand Champion (she won the show).
Cooper was a finalist for cattle showmanship (that is really, really good).
Molly was Grand Champion in showmanship (that is the best one).
Lane won reserve champion in showmanship. Wyatt and Chaney were showmanship finalists (again they did really well)!
Grant was a finalist in Showmanship.
Alexa with her champion 4-h hen and grand champion over all chicken in 4-h
Harley with her 4-h champion cockerel
Gage did a great job on his first ever speech placing 6th.
Grant received the overall grand champion bull, that means he exhibited the very best bull out of all of the bulls. That is one he will never forget. The picture is from the Missouri State Fair with the same bull.
