West Point El. Parent Update
Week of December 8, 2024
Dear West Point Families,
We hope you had a wonderful weekend and were able to experience some holiday magic! We have two more weeks before Winter Break. Our students are doing a great job meeting the behavior challenges so they can earn fun extras for the Christmas Ball on Wednesday, December 18.
Here are four important things to know for the coming week.
- Thank you for supporting our Student Council fundraiser. We raised $2,166.40 to purchase toys for children in need this Christmas. Thank you for your help!!
- We know this is a very busy time of year. We hope you can help your students maintain as normal a schedule as possible by helping them be at school each day and read at home each night.
- Please see the holiday dress up calendar below. Starting Monday, December 16, students are invited to join us in a holiday countdown by dressing up to a different theme each day.
- Yearbooks can be purchased on myDSD. They cost $15.00 through December 31. Prices go up to $18.00 starting January 1.
Every day is a great day to be a Wildcat!
Sincerely,
Marjorie Conrad and Christie Bouy

HOLD Drill Protocol
What is a HOLD drill?
A HOLD protocol is when everyone stays in their room or area so we can clear the halls. We follow these procedures for a HOLD drill:
- Close and lock the door.
- Account for students, visitors, and others. (Take roll.)
- Do business as usual, but do not go out into the hall at all.
- Ignore bell schedule.
Congratulations!
Weekly Principal Paw Award Recipients
Congratulations to last week's Principal Paw Award recipients! We love celebrating our students at our golden ears party and sharing the many ways they go above and beyond to be safe, respectful, responsible, and caring.
Experience the Magic
Magical Manners
This week's manner is "Celebrate Others." This manner helps us show others we care about them and their successes. We don't say they got lucky or didn't deserve it. We get a chance to forget ourselves and see the good in others.

December Brag Tags
December is a brand new month and a new opportunity for students to earn their brag tags. Students can earn a brag tag if they have 0-1 absences for the month. They earn their reading brag tag by reading at home at least 18 days during the month.
WPE Christmas Ball
Our Christmas Ball/Glow Dance Party will be Wednesday, December 18. The students have done an awesome job completing behavior challenges, which is how they move the hands around the clock and earn accessories and fun activities for the dance party. We are looking forward to a magical time!
