March 2025 Newsletter
March
Happy March! I don't know about you, but I am ready for the weather to get warmer and the nights to stay lighter later! I'm ready for Spring! We have many exciting events coming up during the next three months and we hope to see as many of our families as possible at these events!
We have 24 students that have 100% attendance for the second semester so far! Thank you very much for continuing to help your student get to school every day unless they are sick. Our current attendance rate is at 89% when you average Kindergarten through 5th grade. We still have a goal of reaching 95%! If there is a way for us to work with you to support your child's attendance, please let us know. We have also shared with students that it is important for them to be at school on time in the morning. Class team-building and instruction start right away in the morning. Being late to school not only interrupts your child's learning but can also have a negative impact on other learners in the classroom. Each student who is on time also gets greeted by staff members in the hallway as they go to class. Tardy students miss out on this greeting and a positive start to their day.
We will have CMAS testing taking place on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday during the weeks of April 3rd and April 10th for 3rd-5th grade students. We ask that you please try to make sure your student is present and on time during those days, as well as try to avoid making appointments during that time. Testing will take place in the morning only on those dates. If you have any questions, please contact our office and we will be able to answer them.

Superintendent Search Survey
Superindendent Search Survery
Dear Thompson School District Stakeholders:
As you may know, the Thompson School District Board of Education has begun searching for our next Superintendent of Schools to follow Dr. Schaffer when he leaves us at the end of the current school year.
The Board has hired McPherson & Jacobson, a national school superintendent search firm, to assist us in finding the most qualified candidates available. As part of this important work, the Board has asked our search consultants to gather information and comments from stakeholders. So we would very much appreciate it if you would take just a couple of minutes to answer a few questions through an anonymous online survey. You can access the superintendent search survey by clicking this link. The survey will remain open through March 12, 2025.
Thank you for your support,
Thompson School District
Gracias,
Thompson School District
Cooler Weather is Here!
We will be moving into our cold weather season. Please make sure that your children are wearing coats, and possibly hats and gloves to school on those cold days. When the snow begins to stick to the ground, we also recommend students have boots for recess or to stay on the blacktop. We do not typically have students change their clothes if they are wet if they have chosen to roll in the snow without the proper gear to keep them dry. Please let our school know if there is a way that we can help with cold-weather gear. One final request would be to make sure that your child's gear has their name labeled on it so that we can return any lost items to the correct owner, and so that you do not have to buy any replacement gear!
Two Hour Delay Start
Reading Fact for the month!
Here is a great reason why reading with older children is important:
“Books can invite conversation with kids around relevant social issues and challenges they might be facing. Choosing a book to read together that addresses a tricky topic — such as friendship issues, prejudice, bullying, or homelessness — offers an unmatched opportunity to talk together. You can better understand what your child thinks or has experienced around a given issue, as well as share your beliefs and personal stories on a sensitive subject.” 3 Important Reasons to Keep Reading Aloud to Your Tween
