Reminder: Parent-Teacher Conferences
Fall parent-teacher conferences to discuss your child's progress are scheduled for the afternoon of Wednesday, November 20 and evening of Thursday, November 21. Your child’s teacher will contact you directly about setting up your conference.
Your child’s teacher will discuss the Learning Focus Areas that have been taught in reading, writing, math, science, and social studies since September.
Conferences will focus on the following topics:
Strengths of your child in school.
Areas for growth over the next few months.
Focus areas taught this fall in ELA, math, science and social studies.
Preview of new skills and concepts that will be taught in the near future.
Since a successful parent-teacher conference is a joint enterprise, we ask that you are prepared to discuss the following information at the conference:
Your child's behavior at home.
Your child’s feelings about school.
Your child’s health habits, including eating, sleeping and general disposition.
Use of time out of school, including play, reading, study habits, screen time, hobbies and interests.
Relationship with parents, other members of the family, friends, and neighbors.
Questions you may want to ask about your child and his/her progress.
Suggestions which would help the teacher work more effectively with your child.
Delaney School Reminders
Nurse’s Corner
We would like to send out a a huge THANK YOU to those who have donated clothing to the Delaney Health Office. We’d also like to give a SHOUTOUT to the amazing PTO for keeping the Health Offices stocked with snacks for our kiddos!
If you need to speak to the nurse, please call the main school number and then hit extension #4.
As a reminder: Now that colder weather is coming, please provide extra layers as we have outdoor recess every day weather permitting. Please be sure to label all jackets and sweatshirts.
Milk at Lunch
Per DESE regulations, while school lunch is free to all students, milk is not. Students will be charged $0.50 for milk. Please click here for additional information regarding food services.
Lost and Found
The Delaney School Lost and Found is located in the Delaney Main Office vestibule. There are several jackets, sweatshirts, etc. in the lost and found. All lost and found items will be donated at the end of each month.
Please be sure to label all sweatshirts, jackets, lunchboxes, water bottles, etc.
Vacations During School
There are three scheduled weeks of vacations during each school year. These vacations take place during December, February, and April. Please refer to the WPS School Calendar for the exact dates. We ask parents to make every effort to plan family vacations according to the school schedule. Parents should notify the school in writing prior to any vacation. Students are responsible for any make-up work which will be provided by the teacher when the student returns to school. Teachers will not be expected to provide work ahead of time.
School Visitors
When visiting the school, please be sure to have your license or other identification with you. We have a new security system and you will need to sign in using your ID. Please call the Delaney Office with any questions.
World Kindness Day
World Kindness Day will be celebrated around the world on November 13, 2024. First introduced in 1998 by the World Kindness Movement, World Kindness Day offers an opportunity to highlight good deeds in the community and the common thread of kindness. On this day, the Wrentham Public Schools will celebrate by wearing green and celebrating kindness. Green encourages generosity, kindness, and sympathy.
Food Pantry Donations
We will be collecting donations for the Wrentham Food Pantry during the month of November. Donation bins will be located in the lobby of each school. Boxes of cereal are always a need at the food pantry, but all donations are welcomed and appreciated.
Counselors' Corner
Kindergarten and Grade 1
The Kindergarten and first grade students are learning how expected behavior makes us feel happy and proud of ourselves. We will also be exploring how expected behavior is a positive way to gain attention from both peers and adults at school!
Grade 2 and Grade 3
During the month of November our second and third grade students will have a follow up lesson to their grade k and 1 lesson regarding neuron connections. They will learn how neurons connect and make pathways in the brain! We will have discussions about positive self-talk and noticing our thinking.
All Delaney Students
All students in grades K-3 will continue to learn and be exposed to the science behind our brain and body. They will be learning about their brain (amygdala and prefrontal cortex) and their physiological response!
