Pender County Schools (PCS) is excited to announce the opening of a new elementary and middle school in Hampstead and need your input to choose the perfect name for each school! Following Board Policy, school names should reflect the local geography, history, or community.
Please take a few minutes to participate in the School Naming Form by February 2, 2025. You can select from suggested names or submit your own ideas, ensuring they align with our district guidelines.
Your input will help shape the identity of this new school for years to come!

Last year, these programs impacted more than 52,000 lives through grants for education, financial stability, and health.

STRAWBRIDGE PICTURE DELIVERY & CODE LOOK UP TOOL!
Parents still need to order pictures? Our NEW Code Lookup Tool is now available. They can simply scan the QR code and follow the directions to access their child's picture ordering gallery. No need to contact Customer Service for an access code! *Student last name and Student ID number will be required for data security.*

BMS PTO Message
- Please come out to the BMS gym on Saturday, March 22 for a PTO Quarter Auction Fundraiser
- We are asking for any monetary donations to support our BMS PTO Fundraiser - Sponsor an Event Tables. BMS has many events held on their campus each year and they need event tables to keep these events going. Please support this fundraiser through our PTO if you are able.

- BMS Families - We are working with students to follow the PCS dress code. We need your help at home! Please see the full policy here Policy Code: 4316 Student Dress Code, but you can also focus on these bullets below.
All students must adhere to the following standards.
1. Students may not wear sagging pants or pants worn below the hipbone.
2. Shirts and tops must be long enough to meet the waistband of pants, shorts or skirts at all times. No midriffs, cleavage or underwear shall be visible at any time. See-through clothing is prohibited.
3. Students may not wear sleeveless shirts, tops or dresses that do not cover the top of the shoulder (i.e. tank tops, spaghetti straps, halter tops, tube tops, strapless tops, etc.).
4. Excessively short or tight garments are prohibited. Skirts and shorts may not be shorter than mid-thigh length.
5. Head coverings are prohibited inside school buildings.
6. Adornments that could reasonably be perceived as or used as a weapon, such as chains or spikes, are prohibited.
7. Students may not wear attire with messages or illustrations that are lewd, indecent or vulgar or that advertise any product or service not permitted by law to minors.
Pender County Schools are transitioning over to OSP. OSP is Online School Payments and will be the Web Store for BMS. The only 2 payment methods at Burgaw Middle School will be cash and online payments. Parents or family members will need to create a login and add their student. This will be good as long as the student is in attendance at PCS. When creating an account, you will need the student ID number. Here is the link for the parents/family members:

Families, we need your help ensuring students bring their Chromebooks to school each day. Also, we ask that non-essential electronics (Airpods and Beats headphones) be left at home. If your child has a lost or damaged Chromebook fee, please pay that fee as soon as possible.

School Hours: 7:30-2:45pm (students are tardy after 7:30am)
Students exit bus/car at 7:10am (buses utilize the back of school/cars utilize the front of school)
For the 2024-2025 school year, breakfast and lunch will be provided, at no cost, to all students at our school

Here Comes the Bus will be available again this school year. Please remember that it is not accessible during the first few weeks of school. Schools will receive an email when Here Comes the Bus is available. Links to access information to distribute at open house is below:

For students who walk home from school - Students MUST have a walker form signed in order to walk home from campus. If you are new to BMS, or if you have not completed a walker form, please send a note with your child for them to walk home on the first day of school.
