What an amazing Kindness Week we had! This past week was filled with so many heartwarming moments that truly reflect the kindness, compassion, and positivity that make our school community so special.

From kindness challenges and kindness read alouds, to writing thank-you notes and connecting with classroom buddies, our students and staff have gone above and beyond to spread joy and build each other up. We have seen countless examples of kindness in action, and it has been a reminder of the incredible impact we can have when we come together with caring hearts.

A special thank you to our families for supporting this week at home and encouraging your children to bring kindness into everything they do. Your partnership in nurturing these values makes all the difference! Let’s keep spreading kindness beyond this week. A small act of kindness can have a ripple effect that changes someone’s day—or even their life!

This week...

As part of our ongoing commitment to ensuring the safety and preparedness of our students and staff, we will be conducting a shelter-in-place drill on Tuesday.

The purpose of this drill is to practice the procedures we would follow in the event of an emergency that requires us to stay inside the school building for safety. This could include situations such as severe weather or other external hazards.

During the drill:

• Students and staff will remain indoors and follow specific safety protocols.
• The drill will be conducted in a calm, age-appropriate manner, with staff guiding students through the process step by step.
• We will emphasize that this is a practice exercise so students feel confident and prepared without unnecessary worry.

We encourage you to talk with your child about the importance of safety drills and reassure them that these are opportunities to practice and learn.

We are so proud of the incredible community here at Jones and we want to spread our Dolphin pride far and wide! To celebrate our school spirit and the amazing things happening here, we are offering free Dolphin Pride Yard Signs to families who are willing to display one in their yard.

This is a wonderful way to share our school’s positivity and excitement with neighbors. Together, we can show everyone how much we love being part of our learning community.

If you are interested in receiving a yard sign, please let come to the front office to get while supplies last (our office is open 7:00 am - 3:00 pm). Thank you for your continued support and for being such an important part of our Dolphin family. Let’s share our pride with the whole community!

Save the date! Our 3rd grade students will have to opportunity to perform with the La Jolla Symphony on Saturday, April 26th at 2:00 pm. The concert will be at First United Methodist Church of San Diego in Mission Valley. We hope to see you there!

The PTA plays a crucial role in fostering strong family engagement at Jones Elementary. By organizing activities that bring families, students, and staff together, the PTA helps grow a stronger sense of belonging within our school community. These events not only strengthen relationships but also empower families to be active participants in their children's education, enhancing student success and building a supportive, collaborative school environment. Our Parent Teacher Association works with Jones Elementary to provide programs and support to benefit the students, their families, teachers, school administration and the community. Run entirely by volunteers, the PTA raises money to support enrichment programs, program instructors, educational assemblies and field trips, family events, and special classroom supplies.
