Personal Device Policy Changes Start Monday
This past Wednesday, the changes were described to students in a video message, and many students participated in Q&A sessions offered during lunch.
It is important to note that the goal of our policy has not changed: to have classrooms free of distractions for students and their classmates, and allows our teachers to deliver their instruction in the best environment possible. Most of the changes regard how the policy is enforced, but as we told students on Wednesday, it's really simple: If there are no phones used during class time, no one will have any problems!
See the presentation below, which outlines the changes, and has answers to questions that our students asked this week.
A.P. Course Contracts Due
All students enrolled in an AP course are required to have their Parent/Guardian sign and return the AP Contract to Mr. Blecharczyk or the School Counseling Office no later than November 1st. The contract must indicate whether the student plans to take the AP Exam. This step is essential in the registration process. The contract is linked below.
If you have any questions, please contact your child’s AP Classroom Teacher or Mr. Blecharczyk, the AP Coordinator.
Mock Election November 1st
On November 1st, NFHS will hold a mock election! Even though most of our students are not of voting age, it is important that they experience this aspect of civic responsibility! Students will cast their vote for the full slate of offices on the Connecticut ballot this year.
Similar to registered Connecticut voters, students will need their school photo ID to participate. If a student does not have their ID, they should see Ms. Nuremberg in the main office before the mock election.
We know that our students will live up to our school values, and interact with each other respectfully when they are talking about the election. It is important that we all respect each other, even if we do not agree on issues or candidates. We are looking forward to seeing the results and announcing how NFHS voted for all of the offices on the ballot on Monday, November 4th.

We encourage you to positively support your team to create an inclusive atmosphere for all!
The student-athletes of the 2024-2025 Class Act Council created the statement below, which will be displayed at NFHS's home venues. Our students recognize that positive fan support is important to their success, and want to be sure that our spectators represent our school as well as they do. As we have exciting late-season contests and playoffs coming for several of our teams, please read and understand the statement our students need us all to adhere to!
