5/28/24
May 28, 2024
This week there is much to celebrate at FHS. One of many highlights is Senior Honors Night Wednesday evening. If you have family or friends that cannot make it, our event will be recorded and made available later online.
Many of our Spring athletic teams are entering the end of their seasons with playoffs and tournaments. And of course every day in our classes, our students will think, collaborate, and learn.
Here is to a great end to May and best of luck to all the Sabers in competition.
With Saber Pride,
Mr. Vuolo
2024-2025 SCHEDULING UPDATE
Current 8th-11th grade students' lists of scheduled courses for the 2024-2025 school year were sent via email to families on May 20-21. FHS students also viewed the video here in Advisory (also shared on Google Classroom with these year specific slides). Please make sure to check your email for this message and review your list carefully. The message contains links for required summer homework for some AP and honors courses (link also found permanently directly at the top of the FHS Student Services website), a list of courses not running, and information about our course change request policy. Any course change request must be made by submitting the completed pink course change request paper form (available in Student Services) with signatures to Student Services by Friday, May 30 at 3 p.m. Late requests will not be accepted and schedule changes will not be made over summer or when students return in fall. Note that change requests are not guaranteed due to space availability and course options. Final FHS student schedules with class periods, teachers, rooms, etc. will likely be released on PowerSchool in late August.
FHS GRAD TICKET INFORMATION
Dear Graduating Senior Families,
We are looking forward to our graduation ceremony at American Family Field on Saturday, June 8th at 4pm with our students, staff, family, and friends. We have more information to share with you about how the ticket process will work for students and families.
Every graduate received (4) complimentary tickets. Graduates with more than one household or households with more than one graduating student only received (4) tickets. Please note the graduate does not need a ticket and does not count as part of the (4) tickets a family receives. Graduates will be seated alphabetically with their peers.
In addition, we are excited to share that we are selling additional graduation tickets! Each ticket beyond the (4) complimentary tickets costs $8 each. Tickets will be sold in the high school main office to students for cash, cashier’s checks, or credit card. When students purchase tickets with cash, please have them bring exact change. Tickets will be sold during a student’s lunch and after school.
Additional paid tickets will be given to students at the time of purchase. When students are given the tickets, the students will verify the number of tickets received. The four complimentary tickets were given to students during the Senior Meeting on 5/15 during Advisory.
All seating at the event for families and attendees will be general admission. In other words, all accessible seats not allocated for our graduates and staff will be available on the date of the ceremony.
Ticket purchases are not refundable.
Please encourage your Senior to finish strong. Participation in this ceremony is contingent upon completion of all graduation requirements, as well as meeting all obligations. These obligations include fees, detentions, disciplinary consequences, and fully completing the checkout process.
We are so excited to host our graduates at American Family Field and to celebrate our seniors as they end their final few weeks at Franklin High School.
Sincerely,
Michael Vuolo
SENIOR GRAD WALKS
The end of the year is fast approaching and this is a very exciting time for our seniors. One of the culminating events that has become a tradition over the last few years are our Senior Grad Walks that take place at the elementary schools for students that grew up in Franklin. This is a special time for seniors to relive and capture some memories and visit with staff and students at the building. Our elementary students get almost JUST AS excited to see the seniors as the seniors do to see their old stomping grounds!
The dates and times of the Senior Grad Walks taking place on Wednesday, June 5th and Thursday, June 6th after finals are done have been communicated to students along with instructions for what to wear and bring. We will have a photographer on hand to capture photos and these will be shared after the walks and also linked up on our Graduation page of the Franklin High School website here. We share this with parents and family members so you know you will have access to photos that are taken. Graduates are only to attend the elementary school they attended as a student please. Graduates should please complete the registration form they were sent in Google Classroom by your counselors by this Friday 5/31.
On the afternoon of your Grad Walk, please meet by the main entrance at each building.
Wed 6/5 @ 1:30pm - Southwood Glen
Wed 6/5 @ 1:30pm - Ben Franklin
Thurs 6/6 @ 1:15pm - Country Dale
Thurs 6/6 @ 1:30pm - Pleasant View
Thurs 6/6 @ 2:30pm - Robinwood
We understand there may be some parents that want to come to the buildings to take their own photos. If the weather is nice, being outside to capture a few photos is perfectly acceptable. However, as part of the grad walk, students will be entering the building to meet and greet students in the main hallways. Parents, guardians and family members will not be allowed to enter the schools, even if inclement weather, as we have safety and visitor protocols to follow for those visiting the building during school hours when school is in session that will not be able to be completed on a large scale. We also want to remind students and parents that our elementary schools have very limited parking. Students attending the grad walks should please carpool where possible.
Thank you for your understanding and we look forward to helping your child celebrate these senior moments.
LIBRARY BOOKS ARE DUE BACK BEFORE SUMMER
High school books are due back May 29th. Please look for any missing books in cars, under furniture, in your child’s bedroom and return them to school. Families will receive a bill for any library materials that are not returned. If items are found over the summer, they can be returned to the ECC District Office and student accounts will be adjusted. If families would like to provide a replacement copy instead of paying for the item, the replacement copy may be sent to school in the fall. Thank you!

FPS FOOD SERVICE SWITCHING TO SCHOOLCAFE
Our FPS Food Service is making the switch this summer to a new system for families called SchoolCafe (or SchoolCafe Family Hub). This new system helps us create some better efficiencies behind-the-scenes, allows families to make payments into their child’s lunch account from the SchoolCafe app, and provides easy online viewing of menu options. This switch goes into effect on July 1st and any money in your current MySchoolBucks account will be moved to SchoolCafe. We will share more information with families as July 1st gets closer.
BACK-TO-SCHOOL ONLINE CHECK-IN OPENS NEXT MON 6/3
Our Back-To-School Online Check-in (BTSOC) for the 2024-25 school year will be opening up for all families on Monday, June 3rd around noon. BTSOC asks parents and guardians to complete check-in activities such as updating your child(ren)’s emergency contacts, medical information, and transportation needs so we can verify they will be attending school with us for the fall and get everything ready for their return. Click here or on the associated image to view the details and to access the PARENT CHECKLIST that can help you plan for completing this process. Back-to-School Online Check-in needs to be completed between Monday, June 3rd and Wednesday, July 31st.
With Back-To-School Online Check-in opening up, we are beginning to update SCHOOL SUPPLY LISTS for next year! The lists are linked online here but please note a few schools are still wrapping up their lists. Please look for 2024-25 in the supply lists to know if the list is updated or not.
