Women's History Month
March is Women's History Month and we are proud to join the national effort in celebrating and highlighting the many achievements of women.
Our schools are celebrating Women's History Month with activities and lessons that will lift up significant women in the history of our community, state, and nation. Additionally, the achievements of women are a part of our year-long curriculum.
Throughout this month we will share stories and highlights celebrating Women's History Month from some of our schools. We invite you to follow along with us on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter.

Leader in Me - Growing Leaders at RDES
Every child at Richmond Drive Elementary is a Leader. Ask your child what they have learned about each of the habits and how they are showing leadership at school and home.
Be Proactive - September
Begin with the End in Mind - October
Put First Things First - November
Think Win-Win
Thinking Win-Win embraces an attitude that continually seeks mutual benefit in our interactions with others. It is choosing to believe that there is plenty for everybody and that other people’s success doesn’t come at a cost to us.
Habit 5: Seek First to Understand, Then to Be Understood (Listen Before You Talk)
To practice Empathic Listening is listening with the sole intent to understand another person within their frame of reference. It is recognizing that we have greater influence with others if we truly understand them first.

Nurse Information
Fall/Winter weather has arrived.
With the change in temperatures respiratory illness are ramping up. Let’s keep down the spread of germs and consider the following questions when your child is sick:
1. Does your child’s illness keep him/her from comfortably
taking part in activities?
2. Does your sick child need more care than the staff can give
without affecting the health and safety of other children?
3. Could other children get sick from being near your child?
If the answer to any of these questions is “Yes,” please keep your
child home.
See the link below for SC DHEC’s lists of illnesses in which a child must be kept home from school:
http://www.scdhec.gov/health/child-teen-health/school-exclusion
If you have any questions about the School Exclusion List, please contact school nurse.
Let’s make this a great Fall/Winter and take control of the spread of these germs.
Thank you,
Nurse Smith
