NEWS FROM WERNER
Update from Mr. Camp
I wanted to let you know that I dislocated my knee earlier this summer and will be having surgery next week to repair the ACL and PCL. I will be out for some time to recover after the surgery. I may return for some partial days after a few weeks. In my absence, Mrs. Culhane will be taking on the role of principal and will be available to support our community. We will also have retired principal, Mr. Dave Patterson, here to support some days as well. I am grateful to Mrs. Culhane, Mr. Patterson, and our team for their support in this time while I heal up so that I can return to better serve you all. Thanks for all you do to support our great school and I look forward to seeing you again later in September.
Best,
Hayden Camp

Safety and Security-Lockdown Drill next week
In Poudre School District, we want our students, staff and their families to feel as safe as possible. We care deeply about this. No school district or emergency services agency can guarantee that emergencies won’t happen, but we can continue to build our capacity to strengthen our shared culture of safety.
All schools in PSD are required to practice safety drills to help support students and staff in the event of an emergency. We practice safety drills (Evacuation, Lockdown, and Shelter) throughout the year. Next week, we will practice our first lockdown drill on August 30. During this time, our office staff will go on the intercom and let everyone know that we are starting our practice lockdown drill. Staff will work with students about what to do in this drill and will wait until we have completed the drill and announce it over the intercom. Our staff approach this from developmentally appropriate way with their students. If you would like more information about the district's safety and security approach, please review them here on the PSD website.
As always, don’t hesitate to reach out with questions or concerns at hcamp@psdschools.org or 970-488-5550.

Everyone struggles, even if it doesn’t seem like it. It’s OK to not be OK. Here at Werner and in PSD, we care about ourselves and each other. We all belong here, and you are never alone. If it just feels like too much and you don’t know what to do, remember:
If you need support in school now, connect with a trusted adult or a counselor. Counselors will connect you to help.
If someone you know needs help, ask how they’re doing, listen to them, and connect them to a trusted adult or a counselor. If you’re not in school, talk to a family member or call or text 988.

Here Comes the Bus
The "Here Comes the Bus" app helps parents know where their child's bus is. Here Comes the Bus, which provides the real-time location of each bus, can be accessed through desktop or mobile devices. The information is secure, provided to parents through a private ID that grants access to only their child's bus information. Full-access subscriptions are free to PSD parents.
The app is available in the Apple iTunes Store or Google Play. To create an account, use the PSD school code 75840.
The app is designed to increase convenience for parents during hectic mornings and provide another layer of safety for students. Schedule changes and bus delays due to traffic or weather are easy to find, and users can choose to receive push notifications when the bus is within five minutes of their stop.
Here's a brief video, from PSD TV, showing how the app works:
