Penn-Harris-Madison is a state and national leader in Excellence in Education, and now thanks to Penn High School junior Felix Zhang and Penn Calculus teacher Mrs. Denise White we can say we have the #1 Student in the World! Zhang recently learned that he earned a perfect score, not missing a single question, on the college-level Advanced Placement® (AP®) Calculus AB Exam last spring—the only student in the world to do so! Dear Elsie Rogers Families,
All elementary schools in Penn-Harris-Madison School Corporation will be conducting in-person Parent-Teacher-Student Conferences for every student on Tuesday, October 18th and Wednesday, October 19th. All parents will be encourage to schedule a 15-minute conference. If you have extenuating circumstances that require a virtual conference, please reach out to your child's teacher after you have selected your time. Your prompt arrival will be greatly appreciated as we will attempt to follow the scheduled times without delay.
The conference provides the teachers with an opportunity to discuss your child’s academic progress. This time together will provide an opportunity to exchange information about a child and renders valuable supplementary information to the report card. In an effort to make conferences more meaningful for both parents and students, we encourage you to allow your child to participate in the actual conference with us. We trust you will look upon conferences as a beneficial experience.
We will be using an online program called “SignUp Genius” to schedule and confirm conferences. It allows parents to sign up for a conference date and time online rather than having a teacher assign you a date and time. It will also send you reminders. Please see the document below for information about SignUp Genius. If you prefer not to participate in the online registration, please let your child’s teacher know by October 3rd and the teacher will assign a date and time for you.
Parents that have siblings will have the opportunity to sign-up for a time slot before families with one child since they have to attend more than one conference. Please allow at least 5-10 minutes in between each conference to allow for travel time. Families with siblings will receive an email from SignUp Genius on Tuesday, October 4th between 8:00 A.M. and 11:00 A.M. inviting you to sign-up for a conference time. Families with one child will receive an email from SignUp Genius on Wednesday, October 5th between 8:00 A.M. and 11:00 A.M. inviting you to sign-up for a conference time. Please note that each child is allotted one time slot.
Please let your child’s teacher know if there is anything special that you would like to discuss at the conference.

PTO Sponsored Fun Run
Elsie Rogers PTO will sponsor a family fun run on Friday, October 14. This event will take place on the field/track at Schmucker Middle School. Kids will be encouraged to wear their Halloween costumes. If you can help out (time or donations), please sign up on the Sign Up Genius link HERE!
2022-2023 School Book Fees
Mrs. Lane, our school treasurer has uploaded student fees. We now have a website where families can access their balance and make a payment on line. Click this LINK. Please note that parents who want to pay by cash or check can do so as well. Guardians can stop by the Elsie Rogers office at any time between 7:30 AM - 4:00 PM and make a payment. All fees are due by 3/31/23.
Free Meals and Textbook Assistance
Your family may be eligible for assistance paying for cafeteria meals and school fees.
Households that meet the financial guidelines of the National School Lunch Program are eligible for free or reduced meal prices, as well as a discount applied to textbook rental fees. To receive this support parents must apply annually and provide information that serves to verify household income. The application is easy to fill out (choose online or paper format) and it includes a place to indicate that you also want to apply for textbook assistance. Please make sure to submit only one form (application) per household, even if the children are in different schools.
(Applications for the 2022-23 school year will be accepted beginning July 1st, 2022)
