C.A.R.E - Community - Accountability - Respect for Everyone Meeting
The community came together Tuesday night to look at celebrations and monthly themes that embrace our community. We are looking for community members to join our time together as we look to build relationships and extend our practices of belonging. Our next meeting is scheduled for February 25th, @ 6:00pm, in the Apponequet Lecture Hall - we are going to examine observances and celebrations that represent our families.
Winter Weather Reminder...
We hope that families are enjoying the season with mild reminders of winter snow and stronger reminders of winter temperatures. Layers are an important way to keep warm and healthy through the winter, especially as buildings do their best to ensure outdoor play time occurs. Please reach out to your school building if your child is in need of winter wear - our PTO’s are amazing at providing for our students to enjoy the outdoors safely.
Lunar New Year
The Lunar New Year is the pan-Asian festival that celebrates the beginning of the new year, based on the traditional lunisolar and solar calendar. The Lunar New Year marks the end of winter and the beginning of the spring season, observances traditionally take place from New Year’s Eve, the evening preceding the first day of the year, to the Lantern Festival, February 12th this year. The first day of the New Year begins on the new moon that appears between 21 January and 20 February.
Music in our District!
Music is alive district wide with students participating in Jr. and Sr. Districts - sponsored by Massachusetts Music Educators Association (MMEA) these opportunities provide for students to audition and perform with students from the region and under guest conductors to enrich and expand their performance experiences. If your student is interested in playing an instrument, have them reach out to their building music teacher.
ARHS Winter Sports...
Winter sports are in full swing and we have many student athletes participating in basketball, ice hockey and indoor track, click here to stay informed about athletic events. Go Lakers!
Thank you!
To those who have reached out with interest to be part of the hiring process for an Interim Superintendent, we thank you and will be in touch soon. If anyone else is interested please email the school committee at sc@freelake.org.
