Principal's Message
In the blink of an eye, we find ourselves in May! It has been an incredible year of learning, growing, and supporting one another at Warren Elementary School. We are still coming off a wonderful staff appreciation week. I want to extend another thank you to all of the parents and WPA for celebrating us last week. We are truly blessed to have such an amazingly dedicated team of educators whose primary focus is to serve our students and families.
Our 3rd graders started their State Assessments (OSAS) this week. Every student and staff member sent a strong encouraging message to our 3rd graders and Mrs. Zieres.
First, I met them in the gym on Tuesday and read them an encouraging story. Each student received a “Never Give Up” bracelet and pencil, a “My Principal Believes in Me” sticker, and some peppermints to activate their brain power. When students made their way to Mrs. Zieres room, our K-2 students and staff lined the halls and cheered them on. “Rock the Test! Rock the Test! Rock the Test!” Mrs. Zieres 3rd graders were beaming and their confidence soared. Our students and staff make me proud each day! Check out our photos.
Warren has quite a few fun things planned for the remainder of the year. This list does not include all of our activities and field trips, so please watch for more communication from your child(s) teacher(s).
Monday, May 6th our Warren Parent Organization (WPA) will be hosting the Warren Jog-a-thon.
Thursday, May 16th, we host Kindergarten Connect. See the flier below.
Tuesday, June 11th, is our annual Field Day! We will also be acknowledging our Volunteers this day.
Wednesday, June 12th, from 4-5:30pm, is a Family Literacy Carnival. We will begin advertising for this end-of-the-year all-school celebration soon.
Thursday, June 13th, School-wide Zoo Field Trip.
Friday, June 14th, we celebrate our last day of school with a Kindergarten Graduation and a 3rd Grade Celebration. This day is also a half-day of school.
Kind Regards,
Jen
JOG-A-THON
We ask that students wear sneakers for the day. It is a rain or shine event and the current forecast indicates that we should expect temperatures in the low 5o’s and rain. Students may want rain gear or you may want to pack a change of clothes, socks, or sneakers in their backpacks. We also encourage you to send in a water bottle for your kiddo. We will have water bottles on hand for students.
Students should be seeking donations and commitments per lap at this time. They are encouraged to ask family, friends, neighbors, and beyond. Students should never seek support on their own and strangers should not be approached.
WPA will have volunteers add tally marks to index cards that students wear as they run around the track. We return all the cards to the students so they know how many laps they ran. All fundraiser money should be returned to school by May 15th. Fundraising incentives were previously communicated to students.

Kindergarten Notes:
The kindergarten students have been working very hard on their graduation songs in class and are doing a great job! Please remember to mark the Kindergarten Graduation on your calendar for June 14 at 10:00 AM. The doors will open at 9:45 so you have time to find a seat.

1st Grade Notes:
!st Grade Concert May 22 at 6:30 at Scappoose High School Auditorium
We have 3 weeks left before the 1st Grade concert. It is imperative that your student is practicing at home so that they know the words for the songs in time for the concert.
They may also receive a speaking part from their teacher. If your student receives a speaking part, they should practice their part at home until they can say it confidently.
Here is the link for the 1st grade practice slides for their songs: 1st Grade Concert Practice 2024

Volunteering
The end of the year always presents many opportunities for parents and caregivers to volunteer in the classroom, serve as chaperones on field trips, and/or work at school events like the Jog-a-thon and Field Day. You know the old adage …. WE WANT YOU, but we need you to first complete an SSD Volunteer Application and Background Check. Here is a QR Code to take you to the Google form:
We look forward to seeing you at many upcoming school functions
ZOO Field Trip
The Zoo Field Trip is coming up on 6/13/24, from 9am-2pm. Each class is hoping to secure 4-5 chaperones. These chaperones will need to be on the approved SSD Volunteer List. We will accept volunteers on a first-come-first-serve basis, so be sure to have yourself approved prior to submitting your interest to your classroom teacher
Chaperones will be assigned a small group of students to support throughout the day. We ask that chaperones arrange for childcare for any other children/siblings, so the chaperone can provide students their full attention. Staff, students, and chaperones will be transported on First Student busses.
Chaperones will need to purchase a discounted Zoo ticket at a cost of $10. We do not want the cost to prevent parents/caregivers from chaperoning, so scholarships for the expense are available if you request assistance.
24-25 Kindergarten
We are so excited to welcome our newest students to the Scappoose School District family. Online kindergarten registration opened on April 12, 2024. Please click the link below for more information on how to register your student for school.
Kinder Connect
You won’t want to miss this event that will prepare both the student and the family for the school-age experience in Kindergarten. Be sure to add it to your calendars and tell any friends and family that have an incoming kindergartner.
This event is catered to the incoming kindergartener, so we encourage parents/caregivers to plan in advance for child care for any siblings. While we understand that child care can be challenging to arrange, we know you will be thankful if you and your incoming kinder have this special evening all to yourself.
Attendance Matters
Keep a watchful eye on our Warren Eagle as he tracks our progress toward our goal; our 164 students will attend 7,872 combined days of school this year!. If we meet it, we earn a very cool incentive. Check out our Soaring Attendance Tracker at the front of the school building!
